Scissor Sisters
Kelda:
Hi there:
After reading the Euro brokie accounts and the mentions that the scissor sisters were playing a free concert in London that day. I just wondered what those of you over the pond thought of the Scissor Sisters, or even if you had heard of them.
They have done really well in the UK and Europe. They had the best selling album of 2004 in the UK and there 2nd album and first single from that album have been at the top of the charts for weeks.
Despite their success in the UK (which they apparently refer to as their 'spiritual home') the band say they have had only a moderate impact at home (they are a NY based band) and that the record industry has pinholded them into a corner as a gay disco group at home and that they can’t break into the mainstream. (I’m paraphrasing here as I can't find the actual quote– but your get the jist).
So the question is, have your heard of them, do you like them etc etc. I believe they might have been on the US’s version of strictly come dancing recently? (think its called dancing with the stars?)
David:
They performed on "Saturday Night Live" here last year. I really enjoyed them. I also bought one of their CDs and gave it to a friend who likes new Gay groups.
They have been interviewed in a few Gay publications over here too.

I had never heard of them until I saw them on Dancing With the Stars last week. I thought they were pretty good, but I couldn't really hear because I was watching with a few friends, who were all talking.

I love the Scissor Sisters. The Bee Gees-esk rendition of "Comfortably Numb" has been one of my favorite music tracks for the last year. They aren't big on the radar as far as the main stream goes, but they have quite a following in the indie scene, not just the gay scene. I have yet to buy their second CD, but I did listen to a few tracks and love several of them.
Arad-3:
Great Band! I saw them on Saturday Night Live last year too. Love "Comfortably Numb", "Laura, Mary, Take your Moma."They surely do have a sound of their own. 8)
