"Any [person's] death diminishes me."
My condolences to those who knew and loved her. :'(
Shakesthecoffecan:
I was very sorry to hear this news first thing this morning, she has been on my mind lately.
Our little community of friends really seems to be torn apart by death, at an alarming rate. I suppose it is to be expected as we age, but I really don't think I can get used to it.
Shasta was such a nice person. As the 2008 election heated up I remember touching base with her because I was fearful of the strain of the election on a connection with someone I appreciated. Seems I am always at this point of never appreciating them enough. Today I am blessed to know what what her name was, to know more about her story than I ever did know. I had been through her area once in 2004 and know someone from her area, we spoke of that.
I wish I could have called her Velda Jane. I wonder what she looked like.
Lynne:
Maybe we could send a sympathy card(s) to her family care of the Manila Church of Christ? I imagine we would need to choose our words carefully because I have no idea if they know we exist...

I'm just remembering that she was not too far from Jonesboro, and we talked about that too. :-\

This comes as quite a shock! I considered her a good friend and although I was becoming alarmed that she hadn't communicated for awhile, I just thought she was busy teaching and fighting her cancer.
R.I.P. my friend! Although we never had a chance to meet face-to-face, I did know you. You will be missed. :'(
Kelda:
RIP Shasta.. so sad.. :'( :'(
(Paul, that's a lovely thoughtful banner)
