It’s turning into the season of the witch. Earning the kind of raves for a horror movie not seen since “It Follows,” the period piece “The Witch” takes audiences back to the days when people thought covens were not just the stuff of spooky stories. The finest satire in Judd Apatow’s new Netflix show, “Love,” takes place on the studio lot of a tween-courting television series about witches with the spectacularly awful title “Wichita.” And there’s a new Broadway revival of Arthur Miller’s “The Crucible,” the most famous play about the anxiety of witchcraft this side of “Macbeth.” The last time this was on Broadway, in 2002, Richard Eyre directed a worthy production starring Laura Linney and Liam Neeson. Expect something more adventurous from the director Ivo van Hove, who staged the stripped-down revival of Mr. Miller’s “A View from the Bridge.” He has an equally impressive roster to work with, including Saoirse Ronan, Ben Whishaw and Ciaran Hinds. (Previews begin March 1 at Walter Kerr Theater; http://thecrucibleonbroadway.com )
