Amen!!  We have alot of oppressed people in the US.  We should take care of our own people and not deny them their basic rights.  It is easier for the government to send soldiers (gay and straight) to war to kill or be killed but will deny their own citizens the right to live and love as they should.

Bush's party is merrily using prejudice against homosexuals as a tool to get re-elected.  One of the New York papers today described New Jersey's recent high court decision upholding the rights of homosexuals as a "bright spot" for Republicans in an otherwise dreary election season.  They are jumping on the bandwagon pronto to get out the bigotry vote.  >:(

Take heart, though, Meryl - even bigotry won't save them now.  Maybe I'm naive and getting my hopes up too high, but I really believe that all the liberals and moderates who didn't get out there and vote in 2004 like they should have will rise up and defeat them this time.  Because this time we're (finally) mad as hell, and we're not gonna take this anymore.

And if it comes to pass that enough of us aren't mad enough and all the dumbass mules (or should I say elephants?) go out in force and defeat common sense yet again, at the risk of sounding like Alec Baldwin I really am going to Canada.

I've done a little e-mail exchange with my professor and she's going to be contacting Sean (the student in question) about this possible movement.  Hahaha, if he gets on board, we may just have to go all out and stick it to Verizon Wireless.
