Corona - what does help you? Your fears, thoughts, everything
Jeff Wrangler:
I just checked, and I cannot believe my employer is still going forward with the plan to reopen our offices on Monday, but there has been no announcement to the contrary on the company intranet homepage.
My mind is made up. I'm not going back, even though I said I would. Maybe once the omicron surge passes, but not now.
CellarDweller:
We were supposed to be going back to 'hybrid' (two days in office, the rest from home) and we were told that is not happening now.
Penthesilea:
Thank you all for your thoughts on Tina and my son (I know it's the wrong thread here).
Re my contact to a Covid-positive coworker: I'm through with that. I tested every other day for a week and am now in the clear.

Hm. "reopen the offices" - does that mean you have to go back into the office, or that you can go back to the office, if you choose to?

Sounds like the latter (can go, don't have to). Then it's all good, isn't it? Or do you think coworkers will head into the offices in droves?
As you know I have a job that can't be done from home. But if I could, I would totally work from home, especially now with the omicron surge on the horizon, like you said.
The omicron wave is not yet fully here, we're some weeks behind the US.

We were given the opportunity of returning to the office full time, continuing to work at home full time, or doing some combination of office and home. This morning I notified my supervisor that I will not be returning to the office on Monday.
I still can't believe they're not deferring the reopening. I made it clear that I'm changing my plan because I'd have to take public transportation during rush hour.
Incidentally, I did a home test a few hours ago, and the result was negative. (My God, that sounds like talking about an HIV test. ...)
