November 7th, Pine Creek

--- Quote from: southendmd on November 07, 2007, 10:53:02 am ---
Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone,
Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone.
Silence the pianos and with muffled drum
Bring out the coffin, let the mourners come.
Let aeroplanes circle moaning overhead
Scribbling on the sky the message He is Dead,
Put crépe bows round the white necks of the public doves,
Let the traffic policemen wear black cotton gloves.
He was my North, my South, my East and West,
My working week and my Sunday rest,
My noon, my midnight, my talk, my song,
I thought that love would last forever: 'I was wrong'
The stars are not wanted now, put out every one;
Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun;
Pour away the ocean and sweep up the wood.
For nothing now can ever come to any good.
~~W.H. Auden

I've been reading back in this thread.
This is a very beautiful poem, Paul.
It's the one that was read at the funeral in that movie, whatever-the-name-was, isn't it?
When everyone suddenly realized that their two male friends had been a couple for years, without anyone knowing it.

Four Weddings and a Funeral. Strange coincidence: I've just been talking with Kelda about this very movie on another thread :).
Lynne:
--- Quote from: Kerry on October 29, 2009, 08:17:38 am ---I just did a quick calculation with my international clock. At this very moment it is 11.20pm on Thursday night here in Sydney and 4.20am Thursday morning in Seattle, making a 17 hour time difference. So, yep, just confirming that I will be joining the movie viewing starting at 2pm on Nov 7 Seattle time, which will be 9am Nov 8 Sydney time.
Now all I need is for someone to explain to me how I watch the movie AND engage in chat at the same time - my TV and PC are in different rooms!

You might have to move one or the other for the day. :-\ I don't own a TV, so I watch the DVD on my laptop and occasionally ALT-Tab back to the chat session...it's rather disruptive for the movie watching, though. I see the purpose of this as more interacting with my fellow BetterMostians, so that's OK. It's not as if we don't know the film by heart. ;)

Yup, that's the one.
Life is full of strange coincidences, isn't it? ;) ;D

I plan to watch it on my laptop in a reduced size, so that I can use the same screen for chatting at the exact same time!
I do encourage everyone to make sure that chat works for you long before November 7th. You will likely need the latest version of Java installed. This is free, and good for other things besides BetterMost chat. If I can help you I will - but not during the chat. Then, I'm going to enjoy myself. So practice, move, adjust, chat, learn, now, not then!
We will be starting the movie in unison, and once started will not pause it (we learned that tip the hard way in a previous simulchat). It's fine to arrive late - when you're ready, go ahead and ask where we are in the movie, and I can give you the time code for what point we are.
Here is what I use to determine what time is when/where: http://www.timeanddate.com/ I use its "Meeting Planning" page.
