LazyLJack:
Merry Christmas to all our friends!

Ennis and I have had a nice morning together. We opened presents and then had a brunch of fruit salad, breakfast casserole and waffles. After that, we spent some time on the phone talking to all the children and grandchildren. Evan is very excited about his new baby brother!

The weather is sunny and mild today, so we thought we'd go for a ride. Late in the afternoon, Bobby, Karen and their children are coming over for dinner. We decided to not have the venison last night (Christmas Eve) since we were alone and will be having it today.

All in all, a peaceful and happy Christmas. We send our very best wishes to all of you.

Hugs,

Jack

PS...Ennis did get me the Joy of Cooking!

JT:
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Jack and Ennis!  Makes me happy to see that you two are happy and well.  You're quite a cook there Jack.  I'll have to try some of your recipes.  You've came a long way from playing with that can opener.

Peace to you and Ennis.

Ennis and I have wonderful news!

Christian Hibbard Del Mar was born this morning at 5:03 am. He weighs 8 lbs 6 oz and seems to be perfect in every way. Kelly went into labor yesterday in the late afternoon. Kelly and Jenny stayed at home til about midnight when her water broke and then it was time to head to the hospital.

Everything went smoothly, no problems at all. Both mothers are doing great. They are hoping to come home tomorrow.

Ennis and I couldn't be happier...

Hugs to all,

Jack

Congratulations on the birth of your little grandson, Christian Hibbard (is Hibbard Kelly's surname?). I'm so thrilled for you and Ennis. Ennis must be so proud. As, I'm sure, are Kelly, Jenny and yourself. Glad to hear mothers and babe are doing well. Jack, I remember you commented on a sonnet I posted earlier, so thought it might be appropriate to post the following beautiful prose poem by Kahlil Gibran:

And a woman who held a babe against her bosom said,
Speak to us of Children.
And he said:
Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life’s longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.
You may give them your love but not your thoughts,
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow,
Which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them,
But seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.
You are the bows from which your children
As living arrows are sent forth.
The Archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite,
And He bends you with His might
That His arrows may go swift and far.
Let your bending in the Archer’s hand be for gladness;
For even as He loves the arrow that flies,
So He loves also the bow that is stable.

My love to you all. And blessings to little Christian.

I sure have...although we still enjoy beans!

LazyLJack:
Kerry,

Thanks for that beautiful sonnet. I emailed it to Kelly and Jenny and they were very touched.

Kelly and Christian came home from the hospital on Christmas Day. According to Jenny, they are both doing fine. Kelly is a little sore, of course. Christian is a sleeper...at least for the moment. And he loves to nurse. You can't ask for much more in a baby, they tell me. I wouldn't know ... if everyone remembers, Bobby was bottle-fed. LOL

Evan, of course, is in seventh heaven about his new baby brother. We'd like to try to make it to Massachusetts for a visit, but we worry about the weather. Although right now, it seems like the only snow in the US is in Denver and Wisconsin!

Hugs to all,

Jack
