The official BBM font

Penthesilea:
I never saw this discussed anywhere (maybe I just missed it).

Have you ever looked closely to the writing of "Brokeback Mountain" on movie posters, ads, the STS book, postcards, whatsoever?

The lower line/end/border/ of the upper letters (Brokeback) looks like it has been nibbled at, or frayed or.... broken somehow.

Or, with a little bit of fantasy, the space between the upper end of the "Mountain" letters and the lower end of the "Brokeback" letters could be a silhouette of a mountain range. You can see it especially at the second "B" and the following "A" in "BROKEBACK".

Look here: (hope the pic will be clear enough)

It has always looked like the faint shape of mountains to me.

But I see mountains everywhere...

(I love the official BBM font. It's subtle, but distinctive. Kinda like the movie itself.)

Front-Ranger:
Yes, I agree with you, Mel. That's the way I've always seen it too. And, yes, I love the font!

Thanks Mel. I lacked this term and my dictionary translated the German phrase with "writing". I'll change the title of the thread.

For me this is new. I only noticed it lately, since the poster hangs directly in front of me, next to my monitor. Maybe this is old news to everybody and I need some glasses  ;).

I like very much too. As you said: subtle like the movie itself.

Edit: I see Lee's reply in the preview. Maybe I should really think about a visit at the oculist.

nakymaton:
And more about them... it's just the faintest suggestion of mountains, like the view from far out in the plains. The mountains are there on the edge of awareness. Not looming, not overwhelming, but constantly present nonetheless.

I like it very, very much.

(Chrissi: remember that both Lee and I are likely to notice mountains -- remember where we live! I've never heard anyone discuss it, so perhaps it isn't obvious to everyone. It took a while for me to notice that there was something about the letters -- I think I first noticed it when Dave Cullen's group used the lettering in their post-Oscar-fiasco ad to Variety.)
