You Bet! An amazing, wonderful BBM Connection with our Straight Nephew!

Matt, my partner David’s 29 year old straight nephew left us this "thank you" postcard Saturday after spending five days with us and watching BBM with me.



It was an awesome visit!  A little background – Matt’s father (David’s brother) is a very conservative Christian, who has spent several years trying to “cure” David and me of our homosexuality.  His brother became very active in ex-gay ministries and kept on sending religious stuff, etc.  I won’t go into the gory details, but “you got no fuckin idea how bad it got.”  So bad, in fact, that David broke off all contact with his brother for several years.  :( 

Anyway, David hasn’t seen his nephew, Matt, for about six years.  Since both David’s parents passed away about three years ago, he’s felt like he has no family.  However, during the last year, Matt started E-mailing both of us and came to visit last week.

He is very supportive of our relationship and actually apologized for how badly his parents have treated David and me!  :o  He asked several times to see BBM and when he and I watched the DVD, we both cried!  Matt, David, and I had many wonderful conversations about all kinds of really personal things. 

I think Matt’s visit has been the best holiday gift David has ever received!  :)

Then, to top it off, we discovered this great postcard!

From the tone of joy in your post, it was a gift for you too  :). The "You bet!" on the card really is a peach.
