I hear this one the other day and it made me think of Jack.
Sounds like somthing he's sing to Ennis

In My Life
The Beatles

There are places I'll remember
All my life though some have changed
Some forever not for better
Some have gone and some remain
All these places have their moments
With lovers and friends I still can recall
Some are dead and some are living
In my life I've loved them all

But of all these friends and lovers
There is no one compares with you
And these memories lose their meaning
When I think of love as something new
Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life I love you more

Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life I love you more
In my life I love you more

This is one of the few Beatles songs I actually like!
"The biggest obstacle to most of us achieving our dreams isn't reality, it's our own fear"

"Saint Paul had his Epiphany on the road to Damascus, Mine was on Brokeback Mountain"

Awright Eric ... I've finally hear Dolly's version of "Me & Bobby McGee"

I really don't understand how you could select to play her version over Gord's. She's hardly singing - she's trying to belt it out! dang offensive! "That's the best part a this song" Kris says at the end - I agree - the part where it's over! And I didn't think I disliked Dolly before, but  - just how many songs has she got on the roster? Six? Eight?

Gord's version is vastly superior to Dolly's (and a lot more satisfying than Janis too) - subdued and sensitive. PLEASE try it! At least remove Dolly's atrocious interpretation.

I understand you'll be gone for a while and I'll hold my comments any further until then.

P.S. Also heard Dan Hill's Sometimes When We Touch this morning. Nice. I just scrolled down this thread (to find conversations on Me & Bobby McGee) and discover that it (dan hill) was one a my suggestions. Thanks for that! I thumbed it up  when I heard it about an hour ago.

Maybe you have this one, but I just heard it on the country oldies station:

TILL THE RIVERS ALL RUN DRY
© Don Williams / Wayland Holyfield
Universal Polygram International Publishing Inc.

Till the rivers all run dry
Till the sun falls from the sky
Till life on earth is through
I’ll be needing you

I know sometimes you may wonder
From little things I say and do
But there’s no need for you to wonder
If I need you, ‘cause I’ll need you

Too many times I don’t tell you
Too many things get in the way
And even though sometimes I hurt you
Still you show me, in every way

"It was only you in my life, and it will always be only you, Jack, I swear."

Jess - Gentle on my Mind, by Glen Campbell is already on the playlist (though it's not the original version ... it's a live version.)

Eric, do you already have something by Grant Lee Buffalo on the playlist? I was listening to their album Fuzzy the other day and the title song and another are good (I think...) contenders for your playlist:

Fuzzy - Grant Lee Buffalo
Bring me home
To this house of many days
Just lay me on the floor
Hard and cool as slate
You know I love it more and more
Than before I ran away
It triggers off so many hurts
Hurtful words and broken plates

I've been lied to
Now I'm Fuzzy
I've been lied to

All and all
The world is small enough for both of us
To meet upon the interstate
Waiting on a train
And just when those big arms lift up
Fall in love with no time to say it

And I would have liked to
Now I'm Fuzzy
I would have liked to
Now I'm Fuzzy
Fuzzy now

Here we are
In our car
Driving down the street
We're looking for a place to stop
Have a bite to eat
We hunger for a bit of faith
To replace the fear
We water like a dead bouquet
Does no good does it dear

And I've been lied to
Now I'm Fuzzy
We've been lied to
Now we're Fuzzy
Fuzzy now
Lied to

Hook - Grant Lee Buffalo
There's one thing I'll tell you friend
I don't believe in supermen
Who fly through the clouds
Above the rest
I don't believe
In the best
And I never wanted to fight with you
It's just the last thing
That I wanted to do
But you're so afraid
To look at love
You got to let it all go
This cut-above stuff

'Cause this is the hook
That drags you
This is the hook
In the crook of your neck
It's the hook
That snags you
This is the hook

And there's one thing I'll tell you friend
All of our trials are gonna come to an end
And you and I
We're gonna fall
Like we never stood on this little earth at all

And this is the hook that drags you
This is the hook
In the crook of your neck
It's the hook that snags you
This is the hook
In the crook of your neck
The hook that drags you
This is the hook
