Song Suggestions for BBM Radio!!

<< < (63/77) > >>

smellykellyjay:
I guess Brokeback got me good, because I still hear songs that make me think about Jack and Ennis.  Here's the latest two, which I humbly suggest as additions to BbM Radio.

1.  Falling Slowly - Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova, from the “Once” soundtrack:

I didn't pay much attention to this one until I recently read an article on Oscar-nominated songs.  I downloaded it and loved it.  The guy's voice reminds me of Cat Stevens'.  The lyrics remind me of Jack and Ennis getting to know each other on the mountain:

I don't know you
But I want you
All the more for that
Words fall through me
And always fool me
And I can't react
And games that never amount
To more than they're meant
Will play themselves out

Take this sinking boat and point it home
We've still got time
Raise your hopeful voice you have a choice
You've made it now

Falling slowly, eyes that know me
And I can't go back
Moods that take me and erase me
And I'm painted black
You have suffered enough
And warred with yourself
It's time that you won

Take this sinking boat and point it home
We've still got time
Raise your hopeful voice you had a choice
You've made it now

Take this sinking boat and point it home
We've still got time
Raise your hopeful voice you had a choice
You've made it now
Falling slowly sing your melody
I'll sing along

2.   I'd Rather Be Blue – Fanny Brice

I've been listening to some old Fanny tunes lately, and this is by far my favorite.  It's a cute little ditty.  The video is creepy, but it's the only one I could find with the full version of the song.  I looked like the thing in the video the next morning after going out drinking with Karen and Rich last month.

The song's style may not be a perfect fit for the station, but I think it's sentiments are -- at least in the first part.  Shoot, I wouldn't think playing this song on the station would be any more incongruous than playing Blue Oyster Cult or Coldplay, but that may just be me.

Here I am
There you'll be
Miles and miles
Away from me
I can't see
The good in goodbye

Still
Best of friends
Have to part
Don't lose sleep
And don't lose heart
You know me
So, baby, don't cry

I'd rather be blue thinking of you
I'd rather be blue over you
Than be happy with somebody else

I can't live without cha, oucha
For you I'm strong
I'm crazy about cha, oucha macoucha
Don't stay too long

I need a little ah, little ooh, little oh
And I'm knocking on wood
Honey, hurry up, hurry up, hurry up
It's so hard to be good

I'd rather be blue thinking of you
I'd rather be blue over you
Than be happy with somebody else

Will I be good?
Will I be bad?
Don't be a fool, you fool

My little flat
I'm turning that
Into a Sunday school

While you're away
I'm here to say
There'll be no iceman there

Singing the blues
I'm gonna use
Nothing but Frigidaire

Still
I'd rather be blue thinking of you
I'd rather be blue over you
Than be happy with somebody else

Front-Ranger:
Great suggestions! I've been wanting to see that movie, Once.

SFEnnisSF:
Excellent suggestions SKJ, and both will be added to the playlist.  :D

Good to see you 'round here.  :)

Thank you.  "Once" is on my list of movies to see, but that list is added to much more than it's subtracted from.  At the rate I'm going, I'll probably see it after I've retired.

Wow.  Thank you.

I'm still very much enjoying the station.  It's good company while I'm working.  The playlist has expanded so much and has a great variety of music, yet it still flows well -- at least to my ears.

By the way, does it make a difference to the station if I listen for free or if I'm a paying Live365 customer?  Do listener hours for paying members count more better than for freeloaders?  I'm tempted to take advantage of the special deal they got going on VIP memberships.

Thank you.  I skulk around, but, like Mr. Ed, I don't speak unless I have something to say.

 :D

Yeah the ratings for the station are still pretty strong.  Even after 3 years.  I still keep expanding the playlist here 'n there.  The regulars (who have it on all the time it seems) always email with excitement when they hear a new track.  :D

And I still love tuning in as well.  Whenever I do it all comes rushing back it seems.  This playlist of songs is a whole part of the experience I believe.  It added so much to everything, and meant so much to many folks "back in the day".  It's still all there.... Thank you to Phillip for keeping it broadcasting!  :-*

It doesn't matter to us either way, just as long as you're listening!  :D   We may get $0.03 cents off the price of the broadcast if one person listens as a VIP for a month.  But for me, it's the total listening hours that count, whether it's VIP listeners or free listeners listening.  It still shows me that there is interest in the station!  :D

And yeah, the VIP offer is quite good.  I'd definitely buy it.  Imagine not having to hear that CIA ad again!!  ::)
