Yeah, that is a good one!

Front-Ranger:
Dolly Parton's "Joleen", slowed to 331/3, turns into a haunting song by a man begging a Jezebel from taking away his man.

Friends,

I don't know what kind of system you have here for the radio, or where else i should put this right now!
But i just came across a long-forgotten song of George Michael - Jesus to a child. I think it is an extremely beautiful song and reminded me instantly of Ennis  :'( *sob*.

"Jesus To A Child"

Kindness in your eyes
I guess you heard me cry
You smiled at me
Like Jesus to a child
I'm blessed i know
Heaven sent and heaven stole
You smiled at me like
Jesus to a child
And what have i learned
From all this pain
I thought i'd never feel the same
About anyone or anything again
But now i know

When you find a love
When you know that it exists
Then the lover that you miss
Will come to you on those cold, cold nights
When you've been loved
When you know it holds such bliss
Then the lover that you kissed
Will comfort you when there's no hope in sight

Sadness in my eyes
No one guessed, well no one tried
You smiled at me
Like Jesus to a child
Loveless and cold
With your last breath you saved my soul
You smiled at me
Like Jesus to a child
And what have i learned
From all these tears
I've waited for you all those years
Then just when it began
He took your love away
But i still say

When you find a love
When you know that it exists
Then the lover that you miss
Will come to you on those cold, cold nights
When you've been loved
When you know it holds such bliss
Then the lover that you kissed
Will comfort you when there's no hope in sight

So the words you could not say
I'll sing them for you
And the love we would have made
I'll make it for two
For every single memory
Has become a part of me

You will always be...my love

Well i've been loved
So i know just what love is
And the lover that i kissed is always by my side
Oh the lover i still miss...was Jesus to a child.

 :'( :'( :'(

Hope this is not too sentimental / sappy. But i hope the people here will understand...

Here is quite a beautiful cover by a very young lady (16 years old or so!).

So, George Michael wrote that song in memory of his first-time love, with whom he was together only a couple of years before he passed away from HIV (in 1993). It's interesting to read that George had not come out by that time and even his mother (with whom he apparently had a very close relationship) did not know it. He told her only after his lover died. He worked on his album "Older" - dedicated to his passed away love - for 3 years and it was released in 1996.

Which makes me think how he must have felt - grieving, but not able to grieve properly / openly? That sounds quite familiar, doesn't it?

And another interesting fact: He finally came out after an arrest in Los Angeles where he was apparently caught in a "lewd act" at a public toilet. And he says: "I would never have put myself in the stupid position of doing it in America where I knew the level of homophobia". This was in 1998!
He also says: "I always knew it was going to happen sometime, I was going to get outed one way or another. [...] It took me a good year to admit to myself it was subconsciously deliberate."

Gosh, why does this all sound SO familiar?! Probably i'm just going nuts...  ::)
