:) no one has mentioned Jackie Earle Haley from Little Children whose character was both pathetic and scary - his
performance has been called the comeback of the year, hell the last decade or two!! I thought I knew most actors from
the late 60's and 70's but I never heard of him before. He makes his tremendously good role, that much more tangible
and yet seamless - Bravo! Check it out if you haven't seen it yet. I would love to see him win but a nomination is great too! :D

Jackie Earle Haley was in one of the Bad News Bears movies - the second one, I think. And he was in one of my favorite movies ever, Breaking Away. I think he reprised the role on the short-lived (but actually quite good) TV series based on that movie. Breaking Away was also Dennis Quaid's first film, I think, and he and Jackie basically stole it from the "star" Dennis Christopher, as charming as he was.
I haven't seen Little Children yet but very much want to. I keep hearing and reading good things about his performance in it, too.

The nomination of "Pan's Labyrinth" for Best Foreign Language Film is the one reason I would be tempted to watch this year's ceremonies. Still don't plan on doing so, though.
