A song that makes me think of Brokeback Mountain

Talking about Pat Benatar, here is my favorite of her songs, whose lyrics now seem uncannily resonant with 'Brokeback' associations:

We Live for Love

Your love's contagious, one kiss is dangerous
But I have more to risk, than you to lose
I feel passion growing
I know that love is only just one inch away, from striking us
We Live For Love
We Live For Love

When we get tired, and watch the summer fade away
Will you think of romance, what will we do?
Is there a place where we can go?
Where time stands still for those who know?
Till eternity we'll fulfill our desires

We Live For Love
We Live For Love
We Live For Love
We Live For Love

I never planned to win the race
But you convinced me face to face
There was never a chance of losing at all

We Live For Love
We Live For Love
We Live For Love
We Live For Love

We Live For Love
We Live For Love
We Live For Love (Fading)

A wonderful 80's song...

Feels Like Heaven
by Factory Fiction

Heaven is closer now today
The sound is in my ears
I can't believe the things you say
They echo what I fear
Twisting the bones until they snap
I scream but no one knows
You say I'm familiar cold to touch
And then you turn and go

Feels like heaven...

See how we planned for saddened eyes
And tears to pave the way
I fought the fever as I knew
My hair returned to grey
Study your face and fade the frame
Too close for comfort now
We can recall the harmony
That lingered but turned sour

Feels like heaven...

You wanted all I had to give
See me I feel, see me I live

I always thought that was such a pretty song, Barbara.  I always loved Barry Manilow's "Could This be the Magic?" too.

And since I'm in an uber-sappy mood tonight, allow me to post two of my all-time favorite love songs, both of which have women's names in the title and/or song - but disregarding that it's astonishing (to me, anyway) how much they resonate:

Annie's Song ~ John Denver

You fill up my senses like a night in the forest,
like the mountains in springtime, like a walk in the rain,
like a storm in the desert, like a sleepy blue ocean.
You fill up my senses, come fill me again.

Come let me love you, let me give my life to you,
let me drown in your laughter, let me die in your arms,
let me lay down beside you, let me always be with you.
Come let me love you, come love me again.

You fill up my senses like a night in the forest,
like the mountains in springtime, like a walk in the rain,
like a storm in the desert, like a sleepy blue ocean.
You fill up my senses, come fill me again.

Daisy Jane ~ Gerry Beckley (America)

Flyin' me back to Memphis
Gotta find my Daisy Jane
Well, the summer's gone
And I hope she's feeling the same
Well, I left her just to roam the city
Thinkin' it would ease the pain
I'm a crazy man and I'm playin' my crazy game

Does she really love me?
I think she does
Like the stars above me, I know because
When the sky is bright
Everything's all right

Flyin' me back to Memphis
Honey, keep the oven warm
All the clouds are clearin'
And I think we're over the storm
Well, I been pickin' it up around me
Daisy, I think I'm sane
Well, I'm awful glad
And I guess you're really to blame, blame

Do you really love me?
I hope you do
Like the stars above me, how I love you
When it's cold at night
Everything's all right

Oh I loooooove this song, my sister's daughter, she is 3, sings this all the time. She is also very fond of Leaving on a jetplane... So cute!

I am a huge Gordon Lightfoot fan, therefore I cannot resist posting two of his most beautiful songs next to Shadows (which I already posted...)

Thank you for the promises
Thank you for the promises we made
I know I can't complain
I think I did all right
No failures are in sight
Only now and then
I'd like to reminisce
Do you remember when
Even if we're angels we can't ask
To wander through the past
The future is our goal
The night is black as coal
If I could pay the price
I'd like to love you once
I'd love to love you twice

Thanks
We cannot say enough
The road is sometimes rough
But we can get along
The going will get tough
But we won't be afraid
Of the promises we made

Thank you for the promises you keep
When I am fast asleep
To be where we belong
Is all that I can ask
We can do it in the shade
As long as I have you
And the promises we made

Thank you for the promises we break
If you made a clean mistake
Well that's what love's about
No need to stand and shout
The truth is in your eyes
The answer lies within
No need to criticize

Thanks
For the promises at hand
The abuse that we must stand
Is often heaven sent
They may not pay the rent
You never can be sure
When promises get bent

Thank you for the promises that live
This is all that I can give
Forever in my mind
To leave the past behind
And seal it with a kiss
Forever in my soul
I will remember this

I just love this:
If I could pay the price
I'd like to love you once
I'd love to love you twice

Looking At The Rain, ©1972 by Gordon Lightfoot

Looking at the rain, feeling the pain
Of love lost running through my brain
Looking at the wind, watching it spin
The leaves along the street, you win

Waiting for a line to fall
Telling you it's all a big mistake

Looking at a face, so out of place
Inside that picture frame of lace
Looking at the wall, wishing you'd call
And tell me you're okay, that's all

Wishing this was all a dream
And I'd find you sleeping when I wake

Looking at the trees, so ill at ease
From sleep that will not come, that's me
Looking at the dawn, knowing it's wrong
Still thinking of your love that's gone

Wishing this was all a dream
And I'd find you sleeping when I wake

Looking at the rain, feeling the pain
Of love lost running through my brain
Looking at the wind, watching it spin
The leaves along the street, you win

Waiting for a line to fall
Telling you it's all a big mistake
But the words won't come, I know I'd feel the same
Looking at the rain
