A Charming Look at Casper-Riverton's Morning News Show
Phillip Dampier:
I just love this. It's taken from last summer's morning news program from KCWY-TV which serves Casper and Riverton. It's not the big city fancy-dancy morning news show! It's a "small market" TV production at its best and worst as they are plagued with technical issues and other mess-ups, but it's about as informal as you can get, right down to the anchor guy who looks like he's 19 with the excessive anchor hair products, the casual "weather friend" fill-in who shows up in his vacation-wear, and a catty viewer comment. It's absolutely fun to watch, perhaps with the exception of the recording's audio being slightly out of sync.
BTW, check out the weather guy's accent. Joe Aguirre does the weather. :)

Hmm, that link doesn't seem to be a live one for me, Phillip. Looks interesting, though. :)

Oh it's great, Phillip!
It was different than your description at first to me, because on the surface it looks like any urban news show: the anchor people and background graphics are completely contemporary. But then the small-town reality seeps in via the guest weather anchor and the critical viewer letter (with its moralizing tone and atrocious grammar).
That anchor took the catty comments so personally, but then the other anchor was like, "I was a sorority girl too!" I half-expected her to say, "Oh you were Tri Delt? I was Kappa Phi myself."
And I loved the guest weather anchor. ("Weather Friend" — wtf? Could they not come up with a better name for the segment?)
Thanks, Phillip! Keep posting any other gems you find!
Front-Ranger:
Adam really should have taken that weather service job in Riverton, Laura!!
Thanks, I really enjoyed this Phillip!!
