Kerry:
1. Do you brown bag your lunch, or go out for lunch...? Most days I brown bag my lunch and sit at my desk to eat alone, working through my lunch break, taking calls, etc. Occasionally I will go to a local restaurant for lunch with work colleagues, or grab a bite to eat in the staff cafeteria.
2. Have you ever voted in the opposite political party to which you now belong? Yes, many years ago, when I first started voting, my political leanings were completely in the opposite direction to where they are at present.
3. Have you ever walked or bicycled to work in order to be more environmentally friendly? I don't know how to ride a bicycle (I can roller-skate, though!) and it's too far away for me to walk to work, even though I do love walking.
4. Do you belong to a club, or organization? If so, state if possible. I never have been a "joiner." I prefer one-on-one interaction. "Teamwork" is a dirty word to me, even though I have to pretend to be a team player at work.
5. Do you have a private Doctor, or a HMO? I have my own private doctor, who is gay.
6. What would be your choice if you could pick,,,the present insurance we have in this country, or national medical insurance? I live in Australia, where we have free elementary health cover when one is admitted to a public hospital. I prefer to pay for my own private health insurance, which covers care in private health facilities and also an extensive range of additional ancillary health services.
7. How many years have you lived in your present home, or apartment? 14 years.
8. Do you let your kids pick their own clothes,,or do you do it for them...? If you dont have kids, do you take other peoples opinion on your wardrobe? I don't have children (I'm gay). No-one has ever criticised my wardrobe - to my face!!! I'm a very conservative dresser - dark business suits for work and jeans/cotton shirts for casual. The dominant colour of my wardrobe is black.
9. Have you ever went to a party or event, in totally inappropriat attire? Many years ago I attended a gay function that I thought was supposed to be a denim and leather theme, which is how I dressed. When I got there it was a very prissy cashmere and paisley affair. It was embarrassing, but it certainly taught me a lesson!
10. Would you like to wear designer clothes if you could afford it, or prefer to get them off the rack, because you dont care that much for clothes...? I'm very "blokey" when it comes to clothes, and shopping in general. I'm a conservative dresser, who is not fond of shopping.

1. Do you brown bag your lunch, or go out for lunch...? Used to be I'd say I go out for lunch. But a combination of tricky financial times and also being on Nutri-System (trying to lose 20 pounds - I'm down six so far) have neccessitated my brown-bagging it. I have a stash of NS stuff, now. I nuke (microwave) it, eat it, and go for a walk. In times past, I'd go out to lunch either to run errands or to meet my favorite lunch time buddie Jackie at one of our three or four favorite haunts. We've always favored Italian. This one place makes a pasta fagiole soup and penne a la vodka that are to die for. Sigh. I miss those lunches...
2. Have you ever voted in the opposite political party to which you now belong? I'm currently registered as Independent. But I'm really a Democrat (actually a Bleeding-Heart Liberal, but there is no such party at this time). They just pissed me off by so horribly mishandling Kerry in the last election that I defected. So have I ever voted Republican? I'm sorry to say that I have. For Reagan in 1984 (my roommate said, and I quote, "But he's a fucking ACTOR!") and for, God help me, George Herbert Walker Bush in 1988. I then voted for Perot in 1992, Clinton in 1996, Gore in 2000, and Kerry in 2004. My father nearly disowned me when he learned of my voting record since 1992. We are Western New York Republicans by birth. I apparently didn't get that gene, though. Must be recessive.
3. Have you ever walked or bicycled to work in order to be more environmentally friendly? Yes. Didn't stick with it, though. I know. I suck.
4. Do you belong to a club, or organization? If so, state if possible. Nope. Not much of a joiner. Never have been. I support a lot of causes, like Amnesty International, the Nature Conservancy, and the ACLU. But I wouldn't consider myself a member of those clubs per ce.
5. Do you have a private Doctor, or a HMO? I have a PPO. Whatever that means. Funny thing - I still don't have a regular "family doctor." My OB-GYN is basically my internist. She refers to me specialists when need be. If I have a sinus infection, I go to the Doc-in-a-Box (walk-in clinic) to get my antibiotic fix. Wrong, I know. But I've tried a few doctors here in Florida and they've generally let me down in one way or another.
6. What would be your choice if you could pick,,,the present insurance we have in this country,,,or national medical insurance? Definitely national insurance. I guess I'm just a big ol' Socialist, but I think decent health care for every man, woman and child is a right and not a privilege.
7. How many years have you lived in your present home, or apartment? Two. I've lived in my present town (Boca Raton) for almost 14 years, now. But we moved from our first home down here to our second two years ago this June.
8. Do you let your kids pick their own clothes,,or do you do it for them...? If you dont have kids, do you take other peoples opinion on your wardrobe? My son is five years old. I lay out clothes for him, but if he doesn't want to wear a certain shirt with a certain pair of pants or shorts, I let him change things around. He usually likes what I select for him. There've been a few times when he's wanted to mix and match things that really clash. I try to talk him out of it, but if he persists, I let him look silly.
9. Have you ever went to a party or event, in totally inappropriat attire? One time I went woefully underdressed to a party (nothing terrible, but I wore jeans when everyone else was wearing at least nice khakis or dress slacks and dresses) and regretted it so much that I've overdressed ever since. My take is that it's always better to be overdressed than underdressed.
10. Would you like to wear designer clothes if you could afford it, or prefer to get them off the rack, because you dont care that much for clothes...? If I could afford it, I'd always buy the best. Generally designer clothes are just made better and last longer. As it is, I shop at Marshall's a lot because you can get designer label stuff that really looks sharp and lasts a long time for bargain prices. If I had money to burn, I'd go to the best boutiques and have them pick out stuff for me - I've done that once or twice on a whim and they really do find you some quality stuff that looks great on you. I still shop at Target for basic pieces and have a few Dry Clean Only type things from there that have lasted, but their wash-n-wear stuff shrinks or fades in record time.
