Long ago on IMDB, someone brilliantly suggested that Ennis - like Jack's horse - has a low startle point. Intentionally or not, he keeps trying to throw Jack, throw this love that he can't understand, can't accept, can't forgive himself for feeling.

I thought it was brilliant too! (and I don'tthink anyone beat me to it--it was way back in January. Probably long gone now.

Speaking of brilliant, LOVE this post Keren! I am jealous. But I can arrange for you to be wearing that shirt come next time, you hear?

The people wearing that t-shirt didn't see the movie, I'm willing to bet. All they've seen are jokes on late-night talk shows.

(By the way, I hadn't heard the thing about Ennis having a "low startle point" until I came here, and it's really a brilliant observation. Yay.)

'Fraid I don't know where that quote's from. Anyone? No rattlesnake round up, but there was a stick horse race, with all the little 'uns. They were pretty darn cute.

I love Jack, really I do.  But rodeo just makes me sorta sick.  I can't stand seeing what they do with the animals.  How they get the bulls agitated.  Not as bad as bull-fighting, but I just can't be a fan.

I'm not cut out for the west.  I couln't have shot an elk or a sheep...it would have been beans for me all summer long.....
