Yes I agree! Cool idea! But what if the sun doesn't rise that day? Well, I mean of course, what if it's a grey day..? Hmm, I guess, we'll post anyway. OK. I just hope I am going to remember! :-\

Too many trees near me to get a good sunrise picture. But if we are nekid, wouldn't a moonrise be more appropriate?
I'm game for this and I'm always the first to rise at my house, so it should be do-able!!
But how do we know if the picture was taken sans clothes? That is an important point!!
introducing the Bettermost Sunrise Project!!
Rules!
1) take the picture from your house!! (clothing optional)
2) POST it as quickly as possible!
My sunrise picture will be taken as the sun rises between two of 4 high-rise apartments buildings, on the east and south side a my house - so - don't expect me ta take mine nekked.Same here! Two many windows! 8)
Stand far enough away from the window, so there is a slight reflection...it's sexy yet demure...leaves something to the imagination

I just realized that April 15th is a Sunday!!! What do you have us do!!

so I was thinking how cool it would be if we could coordinate a day where every Bettermostian takes a pic of the sunrise out their back (or front) door and posts it one after the other...a visual record of the sunrise around the world!
Rules!
1) take the picture from your house!! (clothing optional)
2) POST it as quickly as possible!
there!!
anyone game?? we have members from around the world...I think it would be fun!
It's really quite simple - written out in the first post. Here's the essential ...Yeah, but it didn't say anything about April 15 being a Sunday! I wanna sleep Sunday mornings!
Aw, shoot-- Jess, I love this idea, but I don't think I can join in! :-\ I had already begun the logistics planning ;D... Which window? How much of my clothing to shed? Then I realized that on that Sunday morning I'll be in a hotel room in Sacramento with three of my coworkers! (The company's putting us up so we don't have to drive home late Saturday night from our assignment.) Anyway, I don't think I want to explain myself to the coworkers, even if I DID want to take a picture out the hotel window while demurely exposing my vast mass of blindingly white flesh.. :o Hmm-m-m.... now that I'm thinking about it..... we are a group of eight photographers and assistants.... MAYBE I could talk the entire group into stripping and snapping a pic for BetterMost! Yee-HAW! :laugh:That's too funny!
Hello all, just joined here. Found this place day before yesterday. Wasn't planning on registering until I read about this fun sunrise photo thing you're putting up. So count me in, although I won't be able to take the photo from home.
Sun rises at 6.20 in the morning here (in Turku, Finland, Europe) at this time of year and just so happens that I'm finishing my last nightshift on sunday morning at 7.15. So I'll try to take the photo from work, but if I'm too busy and can't, I'll try to take it one day after, on monday when I have a day off.
Looking forward to see everyone's pics! And no, I won't be getting naked at work :P
Yeah, but it didn't say anything about April 15 being a Sunday! I wanna sleep Sunday mornings!
I'll try though.. ;) but I'm not an early bird in the slightest! 'Tis gonna be hard! :-\

Thanks for the warm welcome.
Well, I could take the camera to work today also, but since both saturday and sunday morning sunrises will happen when I'm off at work, I can't promise anything. But I'll sure make a go of it.
Hey Jess,
I will try but cannot guarantee that I can get up that early.
But my side of this country doesn't seem to be represented yet.
Although they are saying we will have a big, big, big storm on Sunday, so there may not be anything to see.
Hey Jude, did you know the sun rises at 06.55 am on Sunday? set your alarmclock! ;D :)
Thank you for representing Belgium in this project! ;)
just a reminder....you do NOT have to be naked! LOL!...that was just a silly thing we did one time that gave me the idea for the project! I don't want to find out anyone got arrested cause of this!! >:(

and it doesn't matter if you think it is a good picture or if there is bad weather...that is kinda the whole point...the sunrise is not all the same all over the world.
looking forward to seeing all the pics!!
oh, and someone asked if they could take their picture away from their house...that is fine if you don't want to show your own street for personal reasons... ;)
Sunrise near Sydney Australia. Taken from 6.15 am onwards.

GOOD MORNING! It's just before 7:00am here in Belgium.
WOW! Fabienne! Great picture! But tell me! You are not always going to the bakery that early on Sunday mornings, are you? Tell me you did this only for the Sunrise Project! ;D
j. U. d. E.
Off course I did! :)
I never take my camera when i go to the bakery on sunday mornings. And i usually don't get there this early either ;D
I had to put on clothes of course, well not too many as it's already very warm here (Summer in April: global heating has arrived! :-\), so i couldn't do the 'nekkid' part of the project :P
It is raining out here this morning. No sunrise. :(
Great pictures Jocelyn!! :D
Those really turned out good. What kind of digital camera did you use?
Thanks so much for posting these beautiful pictures for us! :)
Whoa, Leslie...so far I think you are the winner on the most spectacular color in mainland USA! Thank you for taking part! just beautiful!
What is that saying? Red sky at morning, mariners take warning? So, I'm chagrined to see there's a red sky in Maine, because my FRiend is climbing Mt. Washington today in neighboring New Hampshire. :(
I did it :D Despite work, I was able to take sunrise pictures on the right day. But... so happens that I have usb transfer cable in my appartment instead of where I am right now, so I can't put them online yet :(
Later, in a few days, I'll be able to upload them if you're still interested how the morning was in Finland.
But I've enjoyed all of your pics now, so thank you. You live around some really beautiful sceneries, I'll tell you that :)
Life surprises you every now and then. I found a matching usb cable to my camera and was able to upload the sunrise photos much sooner than I thought possible. Here's the link to them, hope you enjoy.
Oh yes, the photos were taken at 6.30 - 6.40 am +3 GMT in Finland.

Lovely pictures Sunny!
I have really enjoyed looking at all the pictures everyone posted. I felt special, this morning when i was on my bike taking my picture. I was thinking 'look at me standing here!, what a strange but special thing to do. Just so people all over the planet would get to see my sunrise..'
Thank you Jess for starting this project. It's a great idea. :)

You know what Fabienne, that's pretty much how I felt too. I had seen Jocelyn's pics and Toast's and I thought to myself - one pic just won't do. I wanted the CN tower, but that's not east a me, and there was more light to the west and north - didn't want to disappoint, but as I was walking around I too was thinking 'this is special' no one around & I'm taking pictures, just like folks all over are doing - felt special (even if the weather wasn't cooperatin)
The pictures are all wonderful!!!!!! So cool to see all the different places from all over the world where people live.
I wish I did though post a sunrise picture.
Anyway I have an idea, how about the Bettermost Sunset Project?
Come on Roland you can do it.
Just go out and click like crazy
I took 47 pictures to get these.
and my temp was -10 Celsius this am.
Cold even for us these mornings.
And don't tell Jess this but when I put on my warm pants this am I neglected to wear my boxers
- but maybe I get extra credit for that!! - lol
I thought I saw the Northern Lights in one of those!! Did I??Sorry to disappoint you, but you didn't. It was just the morning light creating hues and shades of colour in the sky and the whispy thin clouds. We mostly get visible northern lights at night when it's dark and the colours are not nearly that subtle as they are in my sunrise pictures.
These pics were all great, what a fab idea, esp for me as I harldy ever get up early enough to see a sunrise. Lazy me ::)
Btw, in the UK we have the saying about sunset with shepherds instead of sailors:
Red sky at night, shepherd's delight
Red sky in the morning, shepherd's warning
Like that it's sort of related to BBM! :)
