Hey everyone,
For our writers and readers, the Fanfiction & Poetry and Creative Writers Corner will both be participating in the Open House. Join us "on the board" --this will be the place--at 1pm EDT (1800 UTC) to discuss all things creative. Both of us will also be in the dedicated fanfiction chat room at that time for folks you want to participate in a live chat.
The open house is a progressive dinner party and we are the first item on the menu: appetizers! Lazy L Jack is making rumaki, from the Joy of Cooking, naturally. What do others want to share? Bring photos and recipes, if you want!
Hope to see lots of familiar faces...and lots of new ones, too!

Help yourself to some Cowboy Caviar. :)
Cowboy Caviar
1 can (15 oz) Progresso® black beans, drained, rinsed
1 can (4 ounces) chopped ripe olive, drained
Small onion, finely chopped (1/4 cup)
1 garlic clove, finely chopped
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
2 tablespoons lime juice
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper
1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
2 hard-cooked eggs, chopped
1 green onion, sliced
1 package (15 ounces) tortilla chips
1. Mix all ingredients except cream cheese, eggs, onion and chips. Cover and refrigerate at least 2 hours.
2. Spread cream cheese on serving plate. Spoon bean mixture evenly over cream cheese.
3. Arrange eggs on bean mixture in ring around edge of plate; sprinkle with onion. Serve with tortilla chips.
Enjoy!

Oh, that sounds good, Marie. Sort of like that 7-layer dip that was all the rage a few years ago...

Yep, very similar - just a little more "cowboy"!

Color me ignorant, but what in the WORLD is "cowboy caviar".
I probably should know this one, but I don't. Many different possibilites are crossing my mind and none of them are good! :P
-
Oh nevermind. I just saw the recipe for it. It sounds pretty good.
I guess I should learn to read before I type, huh? :-\
