For those of us who enjoy posting pictures in Chez Tremblay, especially pictures of our beloved Jake and Heath, a gentle reminder:
Many of our members are still on dial-up service or are using computers that are older. For them, large pictures take a long time to download and can slow down their BetterMostian experience considerably.
In general, please try to post images that are not larger than Message Board size. On my Photobucket account, that is described as 640 x 480.
Also, be aware that if you have a large banner or photo in your signature, that means that these dial-up users have to face that problem virtually every time they read one of your posts. These things are pretty, but they can be a problem for dial-up members. Please consider reducing your larger sig pictures to a manageable size.
Regarding YouTube imbeds, please make it a habit to note how long the particular tape you're posting is (minutes and seconds), and then include that information when you post it. This will help our dial-up members decide whether they want to take the time to download it or not.
If we can be conscientious about these guidelines, I know we'll have the gratitude of our computer-challenged folks.
