Title: BBM in Philippine News: Local anti-porn group hits MTRCB
Post by: Drew Kerrigan on March 15, 2006, 05:50:44 am
I don't know if you guys and gals will be angered at this but I'm posting it here anyway. Here's an article posted in one of the most popular nationwide broadsheet publication in my country - The Philippine Daily Inquirer. FYI: MTRCB is like US's MPAA, only ours is a government agency while that of the Americans is an association...

...The Philippine Alliance Against Pornography Inc. sent a statement to the Inquirer objecting to the R-18 (“For Adults Only”) rating given to the award-winning film and insisting that it “should be banned in this country.”

In the statement, PAAP spokesperson Aldo P. Filomeno enumerated the “questionable” scenes—“nudity, torrid French kissing, perverted sex acts between homosexuals and vivid display of women’s breasts.”

The PAAP called on the Commission on Human Rights, the United Nations Children’s Emergency Fund, and United Nation’s Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization, to conduct a probe on “violations committed by the MTRCB” of human and children’s rights...

So what is it with Philipppine? Is it that religous a country or is this just their version of Jerry Falwell or Pat Robertson? And I love how worked up they are about seeing a woman's breasts. Oh those secret parts of the human anatomy that need to be hidden forever! As if anybody has some secret body part people have never set their eyes on before.

ROFL

~Hehe~ :D EXACTLY! Oh well, this is what happens to a country dominated with meddlesome Catholic priests who think they are all that 'almighty' and everything else (I'm Catholic BTW and obviously not a devoted one)... ::)  I have a feeling nothing will happen to PAAP's grievances. They will just die down like a natural death. ;)  Nobody listens to people who think they are always right anyway. :P

:D... Maybe you were in the bathroom during that scene when the 2 hung lovers reunited after 4 years. Yes, I'm referring to the infamous  :-*'Reunion Kiss' :-*  that happened in Ennis' apartment. Now THIS is the most torrid M2M (= Man-to-Man) kissing scene I've ever seen! :o  And yes Phillip, the Philippines is the only Asian country that is predominantly Catholic in religious affiliation (approx. 75% of the population I think).

Wishful thinking on the part of the Porn Police too - no one has a filthier mind than a porn cop.  I'm sure they got all tingly just imagining those tongues.

Torrid romance is forbidden, but an endless parade of badly made martial arts films and other violence is just fine.  Yes, there's always room at Hypocracy Hotel.  :)

After reading (no, not after seeing Btokeback Mountain) Leslie's  first three chapters of "A Locve Born of Steerl," I  sort of felt a necessesary resaping of my definition of "pornagraphy" was in order. So here it is:

Pornography:

DEFINITION:

 Anything I don't like

EXHAUSTIVE LIST OF EXAMPLES:

 1) okra, in any form
 2) anything that causes more pain than present or promised pleasure.
