Q: How much is the honey, actually?
Q: Why didn't Ma Twist ever tell Jack what the Pentecost was?
Q: Did Cassie ever figure it out?
A: No. The "He's not the marrying kind" comment went right over her head.
Q: Who wrote "Water-Walking Jesus"?
Q: What did Ennis want Alma to bring home after her shift at the grocery store?
A: Some round steak. I used to think Ennis said "rattlesnake" LOL
Q: What was Fayette thinking as Jack was yelling?
A - toxic acrylic hair spray
Q- what did Ennis bring in his sack as a surprise for Jack in their Blue Parka meeting? this may not be obvious : clue, look at the screenplay.
A: A couple cans of beans!
Q: What did Jack present to Ennis in a deleted scene? (This is a hard one.)
[/quote
A Very expensive rifle/gun of some sort, which he would never have been able to afford for himself, and therefore did not accept.
Q) What does Jack have in his hat in the s.s that he does not in the film?

Great! Not too hard for some Brokies!
Your turn to ask a question.
Q) What does Jack have on his hat in the s.s that he does not in the film ?
A: An eagle feather.
Q: How much did a beer cost in the Jimbo bar? (I don't think there's a real answer here; an opinion will do fine.)
A: A whole lotta heartache and rejection! :D
Q: What color did Lureen dye her hair when we see her at the Childress Dance Hall?
peroxide blond
a - peroxide blond
q - what is the make of Aguirre's nifty little automobile?
A: A whole lotta heartache and rejection! :D
A: Is that a Rambler?
Q: What unusual creature is located in Aguirre's trailer?
*****
Great answer, Chris!
Q: What connects Aguirre's head and his desk in the "mystic marriage" scene?
Q: What kind of earrings does Alma Jr. wear while she's riding with Ennis in his truck?
A: A telephone.
Technically, (or is that teleconnectly?) I guess you are right. But, what I meant was, what connects Aguirre's head and his desk SYMBOLICALLY in the story?? Care to guess again?
Ash?
Yes, definitely, Fabienne, his hair was the colour of ash and the bakelite ashtray on his desk was brimming with cigarette ashes. Brilliant!!
I think it is a Rambler, it looks like the word "Rambler" is written on the rear of the vehicle.
the head of a baby Big Horn lamb is nailed to Aguirre's wall.
I agree with the Rambler, but I thought it was a "jackelope" on Aguirre's wall.
what is a jackelope? I called up some pics of a Big Horn lamb and it sure looks like the trophy on Aguirre's wall.
I could have sworn it was a jackalope, common to Colorado and Wyoming.

The Western Jackalope

wow, that went over my head. I'm curious, how do "ashes" connect Aguirre, the Jack/Ennis "wedding" scene and the story. There is a line in the ss about his hair being the color of cigarette ashes, but I suspect that you are making a deeper point here. :)
We haven't really delved into it. I was hoping we'd get around to talking about ashes on the "Smokes and Fire" thread, but not yet. We did start to discuss the hair here:

Paull, maybe BOTH heads are on the wall...I would have sworn I saw a jackelope too!
Finally! I found the screen cap:

Could be a bighorn lamb, after all. I guess Aguirre wouldn't have a sense of humor, hunh?
I'm curious about the suggestion that this could be a creature called a "bighorn lamb" as pictured here. Why on earth would someone put the head of a lamb on their wall? It's not like it's a buck with huge antlers or something. To me it seems particularly sad to have such a small creature... a lamb even on one's wall. Is this the first reference to the "sacrificial" lamb that comes up again following TS1 and in the guise of Earl and Jack metaphorically?
So, it's been mentioned (brilliantly) in the past that Jack's Lightning Flat bedroom is a microcosm of the whole movie or at least of the Brokeback summer (the white sloping walls equate to the white sloping canvas of the tent, etc., etc.). Is it possible that Aguirre's office is also a microcosm of the movie? Is Aguirre's office the bookend/ mirror scene to Jack's Lightning Flat bedroom?
Sorry to go off-topic here.
Okay, good topic, but can we go back to the confetti quiz? (Should we split the Aguirre's trailer topic off for continued discussion?)
Q: What did Ennis and Jack do with the remains of the giant elk?
God. Who could cut the HEAD off a lamb and then stick it on their wall? :P >:(
I never DID like Aguirre. He makes me mad! >:( >:(
We're all etitled to our opinions, correct? :D

Q- In what make of cattle truck does Ennis hitch a ride into Signal in 1963?
A: A Kenworth.
That was a hard one for someone living in Europe (and apparently not only for me, since the question remained unanswered for two days).
I'll go with something easier:
Q: Which of his two shirts did Ennis wear in TS1?
A: A Kenworth.

I'll go with something easier:
very good, yes the truck is a "KW" by Kenworth, or a "K-Whopper" as it is affectionately known by those who drive them. A bit of further trivia. the KW truck pictured in the film was not in use on the roads until the mid to late 1970's. So, using this truck in the section of the film set in 1963 is a error on the part of the crew in the film. It still looks good anyway! ;)
Very true. I tried to find an answer but I just gave up. Chrissi, you know your American trucks! ;D
Well, that was new to me. But you're right, the truck looks good. I guess when us Europeans think about an American truck, this is what comes to mind.
What made you think it's a cattle truck? I looked at some stills but I couldn't figure it out. ???
the trailer on the back appears to be designed for hauling livestock - multiple siding holes for vents, and what appears to be a collapsable side. it could be a sheep truck as well, but it just looked to me like it was designed with one level for cattle, rather than two levels for sheep. :)
are Kenworth trucks not sold in the European market?

In fact, when I saw one of those big 'American' trucks in Canada last year I couldn't help but take a picture. ;D

I don't know if you can buy them here, but I've never seen one. A 'normal' European truck would look something like this:

look at the signage on the building behind. the "loose moose" next to "jack astors". somehow that sounds brokebackish. is this pic taken in Canada? perhaps in Calgary? ;D
A: Not THE shirt, but the other one.
Q: What did the Basque forget to bring when he met Ennis at noon by the bridge?
q- what scene has a jet plane taking off thru the clouds in the background? this may have been an editing error.

Q: According to LaShawn, what did Randall use to keep the pick up going?
Q: According to LaShawn, what did Randall use to keep the pick up going?
A: Chewing gum and baling wire. :)
Q: The name of what Manhattan borough is to be found in the credits of the movie?
a- Brooklyn - Annie Proulx granddaughter, named Brooklyn plays one of the Delmar girls.
q- does the particular sorority that Lashawn Malone belonged to at SMU have a certain "reputation"? and is the film making a further comment on LaShawn in that brief interaction with Lureen at the table of the 1978 charity dance? any ex sorority women out there who know what I am talking about, esp anyone who attended university here in TX?
Brooklyn is correct. However, I thought I read somewhere that Brooklyn Proulx was no relation to Annie. Do you have the real skinny?
A: Just a guess, based on my own sorority experience: Tri Delt (Delta Delta Delta) most likely had the "party girls" and Kappa Phi the more well-to-do girls who liked to lay claim to a bit more sophistication. Depending on your priorities, both were good houses to be a member of. Lureen most likely had the edge in the competition, though. It's very likely not an accident that those two sororities were chosen by our detail-conscious screenwriters and director.
Q: Who supplied Alma's wedding dress?

Yes, according to the screenplay, Alma's dress was from J. C. Penney. I've never seen a source for Ennis's suit. Will be interested to know the answer to that one. :)

No idea about the suit,it just says Ennis is wearing a new jacket and a bolo tie What the heck is a bolo tie, or is that a misprint in my screenplay.??????
Here's what a bolo tie looks like. They must have changed their minds about the bolo tie for the wedding, because he's wearing a normal necktie in the screencaps.

Q: Who supplied Alma's wedding dress?
Q: Why did Cassie and Carl change their minds about taking a bus after Cassie spotted Ennis?
Q: How did Jack eventually find that blue parka?
Q: "I complain too much." - Do you think this is true for Jack?
Anyone remember the "Twist of a Bitch" youtube?

Q: Where did Jack learn the word 'asphyxiating'?
A: From Larry McMurtry's pen!
Q: Why doesn't Ennis just leave the fishing gear in the truck when he meets up with Jack?
A) gives him something to do with his hands, till he can get them on Jack.
Q) O.K an easy one, "that's one a the two things I need right now" what do we suppose the other thing Jack needs is?

Q: Is Monroe hard of hearing?
A 14
Q What are a few of the things Lureen keeps in the lap drawer of her work desk?
Hmmm, don't know the answer to that one.Shucks back to the DVD and it isn,t even one of my favourite scenes, guess I will just force myself to watch it all again.
It's one of those "make up your own answer" questions. :)
Q) Why does Jack ask Ennis if his folks run him off ????
Q: Why does Jack often wear his hat so far back on his head?
Q: Who was Aguirre talking to on the phone?
Q: The names of which two of the Seven Dwarfs appear in the script of BBM?
Q: Did Cassie really want to go to nursing school or something?
A: Of course. And she succeeded. Have you never seen ER?
A: Pokey and Crappy!
Just kidding, um, I found three: Happy, Sleepy and Doc.
A: Of course. And she succeeded. Have you never seen ER?
Q: Why is Jack an only child?
I'm feeling lazy today. Where is Doc mentioned? ???
Aguirre, talking of Uncle Harold with pneumonia, says something like, "...docs don't expect he'll make it." Unless my hearing is way off.
Q)How did Ennis a closed in, gay homophobe from a backward rural community, know about what went on in Mexico for people like Jack????
A: Excellent question, Optom! The story simply says, "Mexico was the place. He'd heard." I can't imagine it just came up in conversation at the Black and Blue Bar LOL. Maybe it came to him in a vision after drinking too many Coronas.
Q: Whatever happened to Rich of Earl and Rich?
