No need to throw your remove control at your TV or hide under the blanket during the show, because we won.  Oops, Jake and Heath won. ;D

“Jake Gyllenhaal was a double winner. He beat out Oscar-winner Reese Witherspoon for best performance and teamed with "Brokeback Mountain" co-star Heath Ledger for best kiss.
"This is a real honor, not just for me and Heath but for all of you, that you picked this movie and this kiss over all the other ones," Gyllenhaal said.”

I'm just stoked that Jake won for Best Performance - I was afraid Reese Witherspoon would win that one.  And how cool was what he said - basically that the voters honored *themselves* by picking that movie over all the others.  Well done, darlin'.

Now onto more important things:  Who's the chick, and why is she standing so close to mu mahn?   >:(

That is apparently Eva Mendes. She is and "Actress" by that I mean she has been in what I consider crappy films, although she was in "Trust The Man" with Maggie, so maybe that is where Jake knows her from.

Anyway I am absolutely extactic that Jake won "Best Performance", I mean he deserves it! And Heath and Jake for winning "Best Kiss", although I would have preferred a reinactment. I knew those 20 odd votes would come in handy, I bet everyone in BM voted atleast once so really it was all our doing! ;)

I love pictures of Jake at awards, he is just histerically funny sometime, ala the BAFTAs. I wonder if he pulled another "Shout back" stunt at these awards. I especially like the second from last pisture that Jenny posted cause if you look at it in a certain way it seems as if he is proud of the award but if you look closer it seems to me that he is thinking, "what a piece of junk, Why is this award so ugly?" but it is true, that award is a heap of junk, but I am sure Jake will find a cupboard somewhere to hide it in.

Also if you see below on the first picture I posted Jake was eating Starburst during the ceremony. The packet is only just open, so he is like me and only eats one and give the packet to someone else(us stars can afford that you know :laugh:) or he is saving the rest until later, yeah I think it is the first one too. ;D

No they are pre-recorded...so no one has seen them yet...they just announce the winners WAY ahead of its air date...

I know the awards aren't apparently televised until the 8th of June, but opening up my computer this morning, it said the boys won the award for Best Kiss... Here's the article:

Australian actor Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal have won an award - for best kiss - in the film, Brokeback Mountain.

The Oscar-winning film won the second-highest number of awards at the MTV Movie Awards, an offbeat awards show which lets MTV viewers choose the winners.

That is about the 100th time I have heard that Heath and Michelle are married. Is it true? Or is it cause they have a baby together that everyone is presuming? Although I did see a quote from Michelle herself saying Heath was her husband. So what is with all the secrecy? Did they go off and get married on the sly?

I KNOW!  I think it's just amazing how much recognition this film has gotten.  This is from the main BBM info page on imdb as of today "Won 3 Oscars. Another 61 wins & 51 nominations".  All of this should be emphasized on the DVD packaging instead of just the kudos about the 3 Oscars.

Looking forward to that kiss is why I handled the Oscar disappointment with aplomb.  Everyone told me it would never happen, but I had hope in my heart.  I'm glad to read all your big whoo hoos and all, it helps, but does anyone besides me feel seriously disappointed that they didn't follow the tradition of recreating the kiss?

Naw, not me - I don't care to see Heath kissing Jake - and that's what you would have seen had they re-enacted the kiss.

I'm really glad for the recognition they got. It would have been nice to see the two together again, but the kiss ... no! It would have to be Ennis & Jack and that can't ever happen again.

I completely agree with this view. I would have cringed. Not that I would have seen it -- no cable. (True, as David pointed out, I could have caught it on the internet, but if I knew they had kissed I would not have watched.)

Barb, when it comes to Heath and Jake, you and I are like Jack Spratt and his wife. We'd get along perfectly!

Same here, I don't want them to re-enact the kiss.  It would be nice if Heath and Jake were both there to accept the award though, but then maybe it was going to be weird with all the pressure to re-enact the kiss. 

Jake looks gracious, I am sure there is no "It's so hard to kiss a guy" business. ;)

I would have liked to have seen them kiss even if it wasn't a true recreation of the "exact" reunion scene.    Better yet,  can't you just see Heath and Jake up on stage accepting their awards and the crowd going crazy telling them to kiss?    Heath getting all giggly and nervous and not being able to do it with a straight face (no pun intended)  and then Jake being all mischeivous and teasing Heath :"Aw come on,  C'mere S'alright"  Heath running away as Jake chases him with open arms and a puckered kiss expression.    It would have been cute.   ;D

I read in People Magazine that they're still engaged. There has been no word from their reps confirming otherwise, so far. But who knows, perhaps they did and are keeping it under wraps. You know how private Heath is. Also, since they live together maybe they like calling each other husband and wife without being acutally married. My mother used to introduce her boyfriend as her husband for seven years before marrying him last year.

On my "is heath married?" thread I have been trying to post regular updates on the mystery...so far, we have a press release where Michelle refers to Heath as her husband, a news story where Heath refers to Michelle as his wife and another news story about Michelle's dad being arrested in Australia and he is referred to as Heath Ledger's "father in law."

I am of the opinion that somewhere along the line they got quietly married. I am working on finding conclusive evidence oif this...

Me, I am bereft too....  I had high hopes as well, I even signed up for deluxe digital cable to be able to see MTV Canada next Thursday and tape it for posterity.  Oh well, I am just so glad that they won it, and that Jake won as well!  I was expecting another Oscars disappointment...

Kudos to the MTV Movie Awards. Who woulda thunk that a delightful slice of cheese like the MTV awards would outclass the Oscars? I'm glad they got it right this time! Restores my faith in the awards circuit a bit. Looking forward to catching the taped show later.

 :) this may have already been answered but here goes:  I know there was no re-enactment of the kiss at the awards, but did they show the scene from the reunion in the movie, where the passion was so great in both of them that the kiss just was so explosive??

I'm hoping they showed all the same vids they have on the MTV site.  If that's the case, they will have shown the *entire* making out scene, including some (but unfortunately not all) of the infamous nuzzling.

Isn't there some rumors about Spacey being gay? I thought there was an interview where he pretty much owned up to it. Doesn't really matter cuz he's a great actor, but I'm sure he's looking at Jake and thinking "let's re-enact the kiss!"

It is a clip of the other part of Jake's acceptance speach.( I knew he couldn't be serious for longer than 30 seconds about it.) The clip isn't that good quality but the sound is pretty sharp.

Ps. I was just watching the season Finale of ER and Linda Cardellini's hair is so like Cassie's so I am guessin that is about the time she filmed it.

Does anyone have an inside track over at imdb?  I was just checking that amazing chart of award wins and nominations near the bottom of the main Brokeback Mountain info page and I noticed that they haven't updated the situation for the MTV Movie Awards... It still just says "nominated" for the best kiss and best performance.  How long does it usually take over there for things to get updated?  If this remains wrong for too long, I'll begin to get worried about the statistics and info over there in general.

It took IMDb three weeks to finally update it when BBM won the GLAAD Award....it will happen...its just SLOOOOOOW!
