There is an article in today's San Francisco Chronicle about two members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police that have been in a relationship for eight years and are getting married. :)
The paper had a teaser at the top of the front page with their smiling picture and the caption: "Brokeback Mounties."
At the end of the article, a guy from Canadians for Equal Marriage is quotes as saying, "We talk about the Mounties getting there man, but I don't think a lot of people thought about getting their man this way." ;)

That's kinda worrying, the article mentions that Canada's new Conservative government is planning to reverse gay marriage laws - are they likely to succeed if they tried to do that??

The Washington Post ran the article about these men in the same front section which reported on Dubya's White House hateful diabtribe in favor of a Constitutional amendment banning recognition of gay marriage in the U.S. Even considering Prime Minister Harper's opposition to the Canadian recognition which is in place, there could not have been a more stunning pinpoint comparison between the 2 countries. The U.S. president could learn a great deal about respect for human dignity with a quick look northward. What a shame. Best wishes to Jason and David!
