The DVD is priced at Wal-Mart anywhere between $13-15 (your results may vary with store - larger stores usually have lower prices). There is a deluxe edition forthcoming shortly that new devotees to the film may want to wait for. I'll see if I can find us some deals on that.

You definitely want the wide version for this movie.

BTW, the reviews are in for the two disc collector's edition and it's been a big thumbs down. It's a money grab. One quick slapped together mini-documentary where everyone congratulates everyone else (yawn), some postcards, and a few minute featurette and that's it... for a two DVD package!?!
No director's commentary. No deleted scenes. No Annie Proulx commentary. In short, absolutely nothing here to warrant the purchase of this set if you already have the DVD. You'd be better off looking for the HD version, if you have a HD set.
If you don't own the DVD, latch on to the Wal-Mart deal, even if you have to pay for shipping. It's a major deal.

That's such disappointing news about the special edition. :-\
Thanks for the info. I was all set to buy it right away, but now I'll wait and ponder.

Amazon has lots of negative reviews about the quality of the "collector's edition," which by the way has been pushed back to a late January release.
-
Yes Phillip, I just checked Amazon.com to read some of the reviews of the upcoming release of the collector's edition. I think one person had something nice to say (???), but the other 8 reviews were quite negative. I thought about writing one, but what I would say that has not already been said by the other reviewers. Can't believe FOCUS FILMS is doing this to us. It's going to bomb big time. I wonder who decided what goes into this dvd? The moron in marketing should be fired. Was Ang Lee consulted? Did he say he say he was too busy to do a director's commentary? I would doubt that. Don't know what the folks at FOCUS are thinking.

Thanks Laura. I'm only the 205th person to sign the petition? :( I put what I was going to say in my AMAZON.com review in the comments section of this petition. Everybody really needs to sign this petition.
