Yeehaw!!!  I've been obsessively checking the amazon rankings for weeks.  I don't know why.  It makes me feel good to see our boys STILL on top.

PPl have voted with their feet or their mousepad in this case and BBM is the winner.  I new it would do well on netflix... Poor fools who didn't get to see it on the big screen and were robbed of the true and powerful emotional effect... Cinematography, sound, and better lit tent scenes.  ;D

"Sometimes I miss you so much I can barely stand it:" just seems much more "deafning" i.e. the audience effect of instant quietness when seeing it on the silver screen... I hope I quoted Jack Twist correctly for the BBM puritans here.
(P.S.  I wish the screenplay was posted on this website so I could check it, cut and paste quotes to my posts.)

Netflix isn't delivering in my area, so ppl are having to go back to the video store. It's nice to see BBM usually checked out.   I miss the convenience of Netflix. I watch far less movies.

Of course, I know their primary target is to drive Blockbuster out of business.  Don't like Blockbuster, but don't want them to start monopolizing the dvd rental industry. Then they will go up on their prices....

Evertime I've been into Blockbuster, since BBM came out, it's been completely rented out. Same thing for our local chain, Movie Gallery.

I imagined that BBM would do very well, financially at least, in home-entertainment format. A lot of folks who might have been too sheepish to venture into the theaters to see it might feel bolder in seeking it out this way. Also, some towns never got the film theatrically, such as my mother's current place of residence, Kerrville (TX)--she had to come to my home town to see it.

A co-worker of mine, Edith, saw the film through Netflix, and came to me last week to tell me she loved it. In fact, she had seen it twice, and was thinking about buying it. She wanted to ask me a couple of questions, and they were the two by-now classic ones that keep coming up: How did Jack die, and what did Ennis mean by "Jack, I swear..."? She found my open-ended responses intriguing, and this seemed to pique her enthusiasm to return to the film again. So we now may have another Brokie on our hands!

Well, the last person I knew who saw it on the big screen expressed frustration to me with the ending.

"It's a perfectly fine story, none of this going back and fourth in time, everything is spelled out for you, yes they are a couple (no T. Williams vagueness), no immediate  fade out to black when they go into the tent, etc  but then they come up with this ending. What gives..."

I just say "open to interpretation, it's the latest thing in film."

Off-topic, but I don't think this deserves it's own thread...
I got a DVD player for Christmas, so it's brand new.
Well, I first noticed this fuzzy noise in the background (almost like it's raining) when I got my Brokeback DVD. Now, I'm noticing it on all the videos I watch. It starts about midway thru the movie and it's VERY loud. Could this be my TV? It's about 15 years old but I don't hear it when I'm watching TV. Or could the DVD player already have something wrong with it? Anyone tech people out there?

It could be you've got a bad audio cable connecting your DVD player to your TV.  If it doesn't make that noise when you're just watching TV I think that might be it.  Don't know why it would just start halfway though.

Movie Gallery ain't no local chain.......there are 6 or 7 of them here in Utah and all over in Texas and Virginia too.....

Hollywood Video, Blockbuster, and Movie Gallery have all been sold out here too.....Wal-Mart has been increasingly low on their stock and get this.....they even have BBM at a little place called 'Flicks' which is a Mormon owned store where they edit out all the 'bad' stuff......
