Is done within the US...over its 5 month (133 days/19 weeks) run it grossed $83,043,761. Pretty good for a film 'with no potential'.......isn't that what O'Reilly said?
Its kinda sad...it however is still averaging about 2 million overseas every week...

The film got pulled from its last local theatre the weekend before the DVD release. That hit me hard...I cried just like I had lost a friend, who I hadn't gotten to visit as many times as I should have (five in all). It's sad that the U.S. run has come to an end, but we do have the DVD to mitigate that somewhat. And what a run! This has been an amazing experience for so many of us, and we have lots of memories to cherish for a lifetime.
Ennis and Jack, you beautiful old souls, I salute you with my imaginary whiskey bottle.

Brokeback is STILL playing in Seattle @ THREE theaters (evenings only). It was (I believe) one of the first cities to show it & it continues.
Anywhere else?

Actually it's still playing at ONE second run theatre in San Francisco called the Four Star theatre. It is a double feature with Find Me Guilty. ?? ???

Even though I have it on DVD and everything, I emphatically miss seeing it on the big screen. Sure, each viewing kicked my ass but through all the heartbreak, to witness this film unfold on such a life-size screen was astonishing.

I was wondering what people think of the films in the 1-21 bracket? Any real surprises? I guess that pretty much any film with a children's demographic is going gross well. After all what else do you do with the little rug-rats on a Saturday afternoon? So if we remove the obvious family outing films from 1-21, or films with an obvious spectacle slant, and since I could imagine comedies getting a boost due to the lowest common denominator factor, we're now left with: Walk the Line, Flightplan, and Saw II. I'm a little surprise that these did as well as they did since they weren't that good or popular, and particularly Flightplan & Saw II were both pretty crappy and were reviewed badly by critics and the general public alike (in Australia anyway).
In all, I'm incredibly happy that BBM did so well. I have to keep reminding myself that not so long ago it would have never entered my mind that a gay-themed film would become so popular that it gets into the top 100 films for the year, let alone number 22, and become the consciousness shifting revolution that it has. And if we ever get hit with another Crash was a better picture remark, we can calmly explain to them: "maybe it was and maybe it wasn't, but there were 26 films that people went to see in preference to Crash, like the thought provoking Sahara and the uplifting Herbie Fully Loaded. And we mustn't forget that more people had a life changing experience watching Bewitched and Sky High than they did with Crash".
Hmmm, did I take one b*tchy pill today, or two??? ::)

Crash is showing on pay cable these days (Showtime I believe). It's everything you expected and less on the small screen. Sandra Bullock is still on my list after making the abomination that was Speed 2. That commotion on the ocean was ridiculous.
The only thing I did like about Crash was the score. The rest of it plays like some feel good morality story for the Planet of Southern Californians and their various issues. It doesn't carry well beyond the Sierra Nevadas.

Wise move Phillip, and you're right about EM. Nevertheless, I did stretch to hope for good things about the remake and even Nicole in the role - it could have been a fun Brady Bunch or Charlie’s Angels tribute to everything Bewitched. But even if you were to remove any tributary opportunity, show almost none of the original characters, completely misrepresent the spirit of the show, and focus entirely on Will Ferrell and Nicole (but not as Darren and Samantha), then you will still be disappointed to the point of resenting the fact that just lost 100 minutes of your life.
