We've gotten behind because of so many offline things that have taken up John and my time, but we're going to be moving to the summer color scheme probably later tonight and we'll have a new banner image up on top.  Remember, the summer colors are going to be brighter, and coming after the extended time we were using the winter blue look, it's initially going to be a bit of a shocker, but folks got used to it last year.

Also, the Childress and Riverton weather graphic at the bottom will be upgraded to a newer version.  The downside is we lose the tent graphic, but the upside is a bit more information and you can interact with it a bit more.

Very exciting that the banner is now someplace I've actually visited! Good job (as always!)!

Edit to add: I find it much easier to read the black type against the light blue background than against the dark blue. Thanks!

I think a grass green color might be better. This blue is too bright IMO. Just a suggestion.

This sounds like something we can try for mid-summer.  I also have some great images of pine forests which could work well with this.  I remember we had a lot of folks who looked at the summer scheme at night and found it a bit too bright last year.  Thanks as always for the suggestion!

These are actually mountains visible along Highway 1 between Canmore and Banff.  It's a shame that so much of the picture cannot be shown on the tiny space afforded by the banner, but we've increased the amount of image visible by finally shrinking the space taken up by the various info boxes up there.  The "theme" that is used by BetterMost was written in a bizarre mix of style sheets and other coding, which appears to have been cobbled together.  It makes modifications very time consuming, and the theme really needs to be rewritten from the ground up.  John is hoping with v2.0 of the SMF software, someone is working on this already, but if not, we'll probably have to do it ourselves.

"There is never enough time" works for online forums as well as a 20+ year 'relationship' between Jack and Ennis.  :)

I told myself about a thousand times that I should spend less time in front of the screen - and you are helping me a great deal with the last color change - I already start feeling kind of sick!  :laugh:

I loved the blue color....I´d love green as well, but this red is driving me mad, sorry.

We change background colors with the passing of every season.  Most folks need at least a day or two to get accustomed to the changes, and we typically make minor adjustments to them.  I think we're missing some of the pale yellows we had last year.

does that mean it will stay like this until winter?  :o Then I better keep my sunglasses on, or go on reading my book, Middlesex from Jeffrey Eugenides, a very good book by the way...

I like the rusty-orange-red background myself. Very autumnal.  :)

I like it too!  Warm colors, looks very Autumnal on my screen, soft pinky oranges and reds.   Are we going to have some fall color in the photo at the top of the page too?

This morning---my eyes watered and my head hurt.

Then this evening--no side effects!

Maybe the head and eyes thing was because it was Monday  morning!

We had a very similar color theme last fall, and it took me a few days to get used to it, but then I began to like it. It's very fitting for autumn.
Though I sure will miss the different shades of blue. I love all kinds of blue, but that's just my personal taste.

Now the matching autumn picture is up, too. I like it  :).
Even though blue is my favorite, some variety from time to time is good. After all, you wouldn't eat the same dish, even if it's your favorite,  every day, would you?  ;)

I am surprised some folks see this theme as brighter/more intense than the summer theme, which is actually the brightest of all of themes we use.  The autumn theme is the darkest.

BTW, the new banner image is Barrier Lake, Kananaskis Country near the filming locations, taken from Route 40, which many of us travelled just two months ago.

I love the trees! It looks just the same here in Germany! I won´t complain about the color anymore, Phillip, it´s okay. Sorry.

The effect of a color not only depends on the brightness, but also at the intensity/luminosity.
The luminosity is a little to high for my sensitive eyes!
In general I like autum colors, but let me tell you as an advertising expert:

Red/orange are life-affirming colors, but they are also agressive and dominant colors
who come in front of all the other things. They reach their positive effect only well dosed.

I hope green is the color for spring!

Let me say for all who gave critique here:

In general the new design is ok.
Sometimes there are just little things to change to make a design a good one.
Little things with a big effect. But such little things are sometimes not easy
to figure out.

I want to tribute the work for this design and I think that only constuctive
critique is a good critique.

- That is the only way to make things change or better! -  ;)

That banner image--if that's the term for it?--of the lake with autumn trees and the mountain in the background: Anybody know where that is?

Reason I'm asking is that the "October" picture on the calendar I have hanging in my office is from almost exactly the same vantage point at the same location at the same time year--though it appears at a different time of day and in better weather (the mountaintop isn't cut off by clouds).

My calendar was a "freebie" from the Disabled American Veterans, and there are no identifications on the pictures.

The image on the news banner (the small box) is from the Teton Mountains in Wyoming.  The banner image at the top of every forum page is Barrier Lake - Kananaskis Country, Alberta, taken from Route 40, which many of us were up and down back in July.

LOL, my mountain ranges at the top keep changing.  Right now it's the old mountain range that we've had for much of the winter/ spring and last night I had a different/ new mountain range.  Interesting.

Yes, I've also noticed that the text and graphics from the weather box in the lower right corner sometimes meander outside the bounds of the weather box.  I've not noticed a pattern as to why or when this happens.  It doesn't happen all the time... but it is frequent enough to be notable.

Yes that's happening to me.I just thought it was my laptop. It drifts up on the RHS and blocks out the edges of the text,  but it is a sporadic thing.

Mine is a darker blue on a lighter blue, which I love.If you are struggling to see,I know a good optometrist !!!!!!!
