You phoned a friend Lee? This isn't "who wants to be a millionaire"! >:(

*David jots down Lee's phone a friend idea for the next time he takes a quiz*

Lee, it looks like you got sixteen right! That's great! :) (And you might let your cousin know that, in spite of all of Baylor's distinctions, being the oldest Texas university ain't one of 'em).

Details, Details! ;D
-
Well, Lee, it seems that your cousin was indeed partially correct! Baylor, it seems, is the oldest Texas university still operating under its original name. It was founded in 1845, and has been known as Baylor from the very beginning. So that is certainly interesting and distinctive, and I stand a bit humbler in my new knowledge.

Scott, are you being affected by all the flooding in Austin? I've been watching it on the news. It looks TERRIBLE. :(
So far I've been okay, and I haven't communicated with anyone who has had problems. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for when I get home this evening, though, as the house in which I live with my sister has flooded several times in the little more than ten years we've been there (the structure is built on a flood plain, and is just one block away from a creek).
We certainly have been getting lots of rain in central Texas, and, were it not for the dangers of flooding (Austin has really poor drainage), it would be most welcome for bringing the summer temperatures down, and for giving us some beautiful greenery and a spectacular wildflower season.
-

By all means, Susie, post a Nottingham quiz! These quizzes can be a great way to extend our geographic knowledge. And if you don't want to do Nottingham, how about England or the United Kingdom? I'd want to take those, I assure you.
:)
Scott
-
Ah shucks! I was just about to take the test! At least I know I'd get 20 out of 20!
Susie (http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/11/11_1_201.gif)
I should do a Nottingham one some day ... but I probably know less than you lot do about it. I could think of one question:
What famous legendary character comes from Nottingham
a) Shrek
b) Robin Hood
c) Jack Sparrow
d) Donny Osmond
Susie, you really should post a quiz about Nottingham! Or even a quiz about England or Great Britain, as Scott suggested! :D
I'd love to take your quiz!!!
-
Scott, I must admit I guessed at several of those answers on your quiz. Or I used the process of elimination. I did this with your question about the number of counties in Texas. I knew the answer had to be 254, because Indiana has over 90 counties, and Texas is 8 or 9 times bigger than Indiana. But even with 254, many of those counties must be very large; at least by Hoosier standards. Because if those Texas counties were the same size as Indiana counties, Texas would have over 700 of them!! :D
Good questions Scott! I enjoyed taking your quiz. Thanks for posting it!
Hopefully some of our other members will post a quiz about their cities, states and countries. :D
