Title: OPEN HOUSE at CHEZ TREMBLAY
Post by: Meryl on August 24, 2007, 12:10:19 am
Welcome to Chez Tremblay, the home-away-from-home of a passel of Brokies from imdb.com who pulled up roots last year and replanted ourselves in BetterMost, Wyoming (find the whole story right here (http://bettermost.net/forum/index.php/topic,6358.0.html)).

Chez Tremblay is home to any and all friendly Brokies who want to sit by the fire and chat awhile, whether it be about Brokeback Mountain, an interesting article or tune, or something that made you laugh or think hard.  Make yourself at home!  8)

If you love Jake or Heath, check out the super popular Jake Jake Jake (http://bettermost.net/forum/index.php/topic,1113.0.html) and Heath Heath Heath (http://bettermost.net/forum/index.php/topic,1179.0.html) threads for lots of great pictures and news about our guys.  :P

You don't have to have 1,000 posts to stop in and rub elbows with the high rollers.  Check out The ORIGINAL 1000+ Posts Club (http://bettermost.net/forum/index.php/topic,1579.4970.html) to find out the weather in Maine, the latest in airport security measures or who's just hit a nice round 7,000 posts.  ;)

Got a cute smiley you'd like to share?  Post it here (http://bettermost.net/forum/index.php/topic,1935.490.html) in the "Dot" thread.

The wackiest version of Brokeback Mountain you'll ever hope to find is right here in Chez Tremblay, too.  The PERFORMANCE THREAD (http://bettermost.net/forum/index.php/topic,2739.0.html) has to be seen to be believed, and new performers are always more than welcome, if you've got the acting bug!  :D

While you're enjoying the sights and sounds of CHEZ TREMBLAY, have a nice piece of cherry cake or some apple pie!  This is the place for DESSERTS for the OPEN HOUSE PROGRESSIVE DINNER.

Glad to be here...I have been open-housing all day...what's on the menu, especially drink wise? We have had fabulous drinks all day long, I don't expect my original Tremblayan friends to let me down...

In honor of Meryl, I think we should have a dry Manhattan, one of my favourite drinks!! Plus, let's make it with Maker Make's whiskey!! That will truly make a happy man of me! Um, woman, make that!!

Here, Meryl, I brought a little hostess gift for you:

G'day, Chuck. It's Saturday breakfast time here (okay, brunch - I don't like to get up early) so all this sweet stuff is slightly nauseating.  I'll settle for a cup of tea.

I'm feeling the need for a good, hot cup of coffee to go along with all these sweets?  Anyone want to join me?

Hey Buds!

WOW!  The party's really hopping here at CT!  Dessert is always exciting, isn't it!  :D

So, some of you many know that I'm sorta well-known for my birthday cakes around here.  So, for my dessert contribution I'm going to post my all-time favorite cowboy cake that I've found so far in my prowling of the internet.  I've posted this very occasionally on special birthday threads.  But, tonight feels like a night for an encore.  And, as you see, there's way more than enough of this enormous cake for everyone to share.

:)

Amanda, that cake is just what the sheriff ordered!  I'd love a slice, though it's a shame to cut it, it's so purty.  ;D

Mini, rumaki are water chestnuts wrapped in bacon and broiled til nice and crispy.  They're yummy!  :P

They are fabulous. Lazy L Jack makes them all the time. Who is Lazy L Jack you say? Meet him here...

As for the rumaki recipe...it is in the Joy of Cooking. Let me see if I can dig it up....

Jack's recipe has chicken livers with the water chestnuts.

Some folks substitute scallops.

No matter how you make em, they are delicious!

WARNING!!!  NOT a DESSERT!!!

All this talk of fried Oreos reminds me of a food item I experienced for the first time in Cheyenne, WY at a restaurant with Clarissa, Katherine and Lynne during the BBQ weekend.

FRIED PICKLES!!!.... and they were good too!  :D
