Hi everyone.
I just bought myself a new camera and have been trying out things on it.
I did this little video clip to post in Dev's blog, and I thought it would be a nice idea, if others on here did little clips of themselves and sent them in, just so we could put a voice to the pics and the names.

I tried that Dev.....couldnt get it to work.....the only way it worked for me was clicking the Direct Link on photobucket, then hitting the Insert Hyperlink box up here....then it gives the link.......

And guess what, I have not long got out of bed, its 7am here Sunday morning, and when I read that you were downloading your vids, I remembered what I had just been dreaming of.......I was somewhere, and there were some Scottish people and some American people, and I was trying to explain to the Americans what the Scottish people were saying, as they could not understand the accent........maybe it was a physic connection to you downloading your vids.
Anyway, Im sure they will understand yours, and I am looking forward to them.

I was talking about playing at Marymass.. which is annual gala day/festival in Irvine. Which is where I live.
Irvine has had a long history stretching back many centuries and was classed as a Royal Burgh. There are also conflicting rumours that Mary, Queen of Scots was briefly involved in the town's history. Some say she stayed briefly at Seagate Castle. To this day there is still an annual festival, called Marymass, held in the town And thats what I played at.
The Ayrshire Marymass Festival dates back to the Middle Ages. Each year there is an election and crowning of a Marymass Queen (we play at the crowning - we do a fanfare and play Auld Lands Syne and Scots Wa Hae (another traditional scottish song) and during that there is a parades featuring the Irvine Carters Society – the only Carters to survive the motor age.

My parents are from just outside Glasgow, a place called Burnside, although my father was evacuated to Strathyre, near Calender during WW2.

Thankyou, the Bechstein was one of the few things we shipped from England.It is over 100 years old and I am only the 3rd owner.The guy who had it prior to me was called Johnny Roadhouse !!! and he used to play for The BBC philharmonic. I got to meet him, in fact ended up as his Optometrist,and got a small mention when the local news did a documentary on him.!!!! He said his beloved piano had gone to a very nice lady!!!
It has such a mellow tone, and an incredible light touch.It i very forgiving.

I manage outside with the glare, partly because where I usually sit has a roof over it,so it is rather like an outdoor room.Also I got an anti refelctive screen on my laptop.
I was not so much surprised at the size of the houses, more at the lack of gardens in a lot of them.The reason we bought this one is it has just a little over an acre,so when my son was still soccer mad, he had room, to kick a ball round.We had come from a farmhouse in England so had got used to being private. I cannot get my head round these enormous houses, where you can see right in to next doors yard.
That was the other plus with this house it is a corner plot, and we immediately planted a massive hedge. Our 2 cultures are very different, the Americans will often sit at the front of their house witha glass of wine socialising with whoever passes.
Brits, well we like our privacy, or certainly I do.
The odd thing is, I never go out in the garden, that we were so insistant on having.I sit in the lanai all the time. I do however really love being able to be outside all the time.For me, as an Optometrist back in England, most of my life was inside in a dark room with no windows, so I relish being outside with all the light.
Also as silly as it sounds it so much easier just having one wardrobe.Not summer, winter, etc clothes.The only decision I have to make is, if in the winter it gets a little chilly, do I need a cardigan.Also the heat is so good for my arthritis.I take hardly any painkillers now, a massive bonus.I was on very heavy doses of codeine back in England, just to get moving in the morning.

You and your husband have made a good life together here in the US. Im happy for you.. You are only a hop over the Sunshine Skyway brigde, about two hours drive time and I could be at your house. We really should get together since we live so close! And I told you that I worked in the OPtical field most of my adult life so we have that in common. Besides being fellow brokies. :)

You and your husband have made a good life together here in the US. Im happy for you.. You are only a hop over the Sunshine Skyway brigde, about two hours drive time and I could be at your house. We really should get together since we live so close! And I told you that I worked in the OPtical field most of my adult life so we have that in common. Besides being fellow brokies. :)
That is definitely something on my agenda to do this year.I need to make sure my daughter is fully settled at the new school.Arrange for my husband to take a day off, in the event of a crisis, and then we can sort out a meeting.I think it would be fun.Photos and videos help, but there is nothing like meeting someone in the flesh.

Thats exactly the what I'm talking about. :D We should really put a brokie meet on our agenda. Watch BBM together laugh together, cry together. Talk about the different feelilngs and aspects of the movie. Getting to know each other as fellow brokies.!!!

It was seeing the other videos that pushed me to do it. It is part of my new agenda since moving all this way, to try and do things that I either will only ever be at best average at .Hard for someone used to only attempting things that I know I will be pretty good at.
I also am trying to do thinks that take me way out of my comfort zone, hence the video.A very big departure for me.

if that makes any sense...

It's funny all this talk of diction.One of the things my 2 youngest have to learn as part of language arts,is not only the spelling,definition,whether it is noun etc, but where the stress is in each word.I cannot help at all with that part, as the stress part of the word is totally different in America cf England.
A very simple example that bugs me is Oregano, here the stress is on reg. in England it is on gan.

oh no! You did a fine job! I was thinking last night you should be on Big Brother or something..you are a natural in front of the camera and seem to really enjoy it!
and I love that scene, even with the cussing...too often cussing is used when the writers don't have the skill to write real emotions...but in THAT scene the cussing is natural and true and fits the characters PERFECTLY. You did a bang up job!
Just because I am still inhibited by "what would my mom think' doesnt' mean anything!!

After I took my initial vid clip which was not read very well I read most of the rest of the story and cried.. That dozy embrace always gets to me everytime. Annie's short story BBM certainly is a special peice of literature. Hits me right in the heart big time. Well when I tried to take a second vid hoping to read better, I did, but I looked like hell from crying :-\

Here goes with my attempt. Not the F word passage. If my kids ever saw it,the swear box would be rattling so hard,I would never hear the end of it.Sometimes the because I am a grown up retort just doesn't really cut it.
As you will see from the video I never really felt I had a thespian calling.!! However it was on my list of to conquer fears before 50 list,so had a couple of drinks and just went for it.
Apologies for any mistakes,I sure wasn't going to do it more than once. It is odd seeing yourself as others do. I can see now why people could mistake my shyness for being stern and arrogant .Note to self, smile more often. !!

That's very kind of you,but I have to admit I only look like this when I go to the birthday club lunches at the club here.At that I need a vodka to get out the door.I made the mistake the 1st one I went to of ordering wine and carbohydrates !!!!Not only that but when the cake came round I ate that as well.Apparantly you take it home and look at it,not eat it.
OMG what a blunder,the rest had iced water with lemon and salad. So now I have a drink before I go and just pray for it to be over quickly.The good news is that after a large vodka I had enough Dutch courage to do the reading !!
I try every 3rd one to have an excuse not to go.You can imagine the frowns when I honestly answered someones question about best films seen with BBM.
In addition all kids are perfect.My brand of honesty is frowned apon.Well it would be if they hadn't all had botox.They all have analysts, but not because they are truly nuts like me!!!!

I will second that,and everyone else too.I know I am the most shy person here.That is why the internet is such a good place for me.I have to work really hard at social functions not to have a panic attack.In fact for most of them I need a drink before I go.
The last event I attended in England before moving here, was a polo match.I was so terrified, I knocked back the free Bollinger, like it was going out of fashion.According to my husband I was going to Spain to ride horses on the beach with one of the polo players,and then passed out on the stairs attempting to get to bed.!!
Poor man has a lot to put up with some times.He knew I would not be going to Spain though,horses scare me nearly as much as big social events!!!
So go on everyone,do as I did,one quick courage boosting stiffener, then set video, read directly from the book, and download before the alcohol wears off, and with it your courage.

Hearing Kelda's accent, reminded me of a time we went out with my girlfriend Joy and her partner Jimmy, who has a very broad Scottish accent.
He went up to the bar, and asked for a Beer and a Coke....but with his accent it came out as "a beer and a Cork"...the girl behind the bar got him his beer, and asked him again what the "other thing" was....and he said "a Cork".....she looked at him questioningly and said, "do you want a cork out of a wine bottle or something?"...and he kept repeating, "no, a cork"....finally she cottoned on that he meant a "Coke".
A few months later it was Jimmy's birthday, and we got an empty Coke bottle, and broke up a cork tile, and filled the bottle up with it, and gave him his
"bottle of cork".....

Also noticed how you pronunced "whoresome".....that term is rarely used over here, fact is, I dont really know what it means,although realize it is a derogatory term, but when you say it, it sure sounds different to how I say it. LOL.

And I just looked at the clock, and its 1.45 am.....and Im bloody wide awake....and I think I know why.....I forgot to take my "happy pill" this morning. Never the less, I still had a happy day, but I think this happened before when I forgot to take it, I couldnt get to sleep that night. I was soo excited when I saw not one, but 2 new videos. It is lovely to hear all the accents, as it means when I read posts I can hear the voices in my head(no not those ones) and that just adds another dimension.
I am struck by how lovely BBM women are. I have no idea why any of you are shy. I hope a few more come out of hiding now and post videos.

I am mortified and I remember them now,chuck was real cute and bubbly.Tru was on a porch, and I even thought about his the other night, as we drove past a hosue with a large porch, and my oldest said, it should have someone sitting on it in the rocking chair. !!
I apologise profusely.These tablets kill my memory,even the kids lose patience with how much I forget these days.In fact my memory is so bad I look at some of my psots and have no recollection of writing them.

I used to use my PC cam. You need to download the program off the disc and set it up. Are electronics difficult for you? I can fool my way into to plugging and unplugging things. Anyway, once the thing is plugged in follow the direction on the program. Its should tell you all right there.

I wont say that I havent had to ask my daughter, who btw way is to impatient to help, but her gf will. As a matter of fact I just called her this morning with a computer question.

WOW !!! I would kill to lok half that good.I want the looks of my 30's with the wisdom of now.Me thinks I might have to put the dress on one side for daughter.It s all very hard this handing over the baton to the next generation.
It is made slightly easier by the fact that my daughter is such a stunner.I am so proud of her and all her accomplishments.Of course it does mean that there will be no boy even remotely good enugh for her.They wil have to get past me, and even if they manage that,they will then have to contend with her father !!!! Should be interesting,hope they're up for an ancient gooseberry taggng along.
