Oh, I can't take credit, some brilliant person on the davecullen boards did it. I would have noticed it as well, but I don't often look at religious art. I'm a neo-classicist myself. But I have to admit, St. Sebastian's nakedness always sent a thrill through me growing up.

But I want Ennis too! Don't get me wrong, I want our boys to be happy together, but can't we mere mortals taste some scraps from their banqueting table? Just clip and paste the text of the error message. I have been incrementally increasing the attachment/picture folder space to accomodate pics. There is lots of room for more, I just like to manage the folder size manually to monitor how much space we are using.

Ohmigod...this photo is absolutely beautiful. It stopped my breath the first time I saw it. It captures Jack's gentleness and ease with such succinct grace. And the lucky dog being petted reminds me of the little dog we read of Jack placing in his coat on the ride up the mountain, in the original story. That image inspired my first Brokeback haiku:

Little dog in coat
Gray-white sheep seeking mountain
Blue boy seeking love.

I have the book too Julie, but how are you uploading all the gogeous pics from it???? Did you scan them or something? Also, in the Daily Variety version of the embrace photo did they somehow take out the little ashes or whatever those things are that look like snow falling across their faces and in the air?

Neat one of Jake and Heath in the reflection. And the love that will never grow old thing, that is so awesome. Thanks for posting all this great stuff. I think I am in withdrawal from not seeing the movie on the big screen for over a week now. Definitely in withdrawal. I can't watch the DVD yet. Too small.

Wow. This one is a parallel to the scene early on when Jack puts his boots to the fire. Again, what a contrast. Jake just totally nails that dead-eye look. Damn, he's good.

I was thinking last night about another parallel that they do show. The very first scene is the truck Ennis is arriving in against those beautiful foothills. When Ennis leaves Lightning Flat to head home, again we see truck lights going past those same hills. It's as if each scene is the bookend of the only meaningful period of his life - the period in which he knew Jack. All that comes before and all that comes after means nothing.

Oh--you meant the flashback scene--some of them have scratches, and some don't. I always call it "on a cracked plate." (The last photo of Lincoln was on a cracked plate..whaever THAT has to do with it...nothing, I guess)

This is the one. I love how his face is ruddy with the cold. I can just feel the stark chill in the air looking at him. And I love how he doesn't seem the least bit phased by that coldness - like it's something he's grown up with and accustomed himself to. It just appeals to me because I'm one of those weirdos who loves winter best of all, yet I live in the land of endless summer. I miss feeling that bite in the air on my face and in my nose and ears. He reminds me of it in this scene and I always feel like I'm back at home when I see it.

There would often be little figurines of people playing the various instruments made out of hardware like that. I always thought they were so cute. The dozy embrace is much better though!

This is the one. I love how his face is ruddy with the cold. I can just feel the stark chill in the air looking at him. And I love how he doesn't seem the least bit phased by that coldness - like it's something he's grown up with and accustomed himself to. It just appeals to me because I'm one of those weirdos who loves winter best of all, yet I live in the land of endless summer. I miss feeling that bite in the air on my face and in my nose and ears. for the most part, I love my Asian face, but if there is one feature for which I envy you white folks, is the ruddy cheeks. Asian children's cheeks get ruddy, but after a certain age, we don't get them anymore. the only time my cheeks get red is when my entire head gets red from embarrassment or from drinking.

yes! I love the way Jack/Jake looks in that scene.

Seriously whenever faeces are mentioned(which really isn't that often) I go off on one. When my friend got in trouble for answering back to a teacher and then mumbling about her punishment the teacher did the "all ears" signal and I burst out laughing, of course then I almost got punished, but that teacher likes me so I just smiled sweetly and he carried on. ;D
Of course whenever ANYTHING to do with Donnie is mentioned it inevitably boils down to me quoting the whole "Smurf scenario". Once my friend knew I was about to quote Donnie as someone had just said something about Hunrgy Hippos and she shouted, "Don't! I will explode if I hear another Donnie quote".
Ahh the days when I only quoted Donnie to annoy my friends, now a whole new realm of Brokeback quotes have opened up. Of course now anything Brokeback coming from my mouth results in a grown from my friends and "There is no stopping here, she is on her band-wagon now!" comments flying about while I just sit in the corner and hum "Wings!" :laugh:
