Hey, gang--
Just wanted to chime in here, to let youse guys know that I chanced upon, most unexpectedly, Jake Gyllenhaal and Linda Cardellini in another film together, which I saw on DVD this past weekend. The film is Jiminy Glick in Lalawood, a 2004 release starring Martin Short as the titular heavy (and heavily obnoxious) "film critic" in his big-screen debut, the story of which details Glick's adventures, with wife and kids in tow, at the Toronto Film Festival. I enjoyed Short and his "Glick" schtick on his now-defunct comedy series, and this film was a lot of fun as well.
Jake appears in a brief cameo as himself, ambushed by the indefatigable Glick on the red carpet, while Cardellini has a meatier role as a movie star's troubled daughter with Sapphic tendencies. The two do not appear in a scene together, just as they did not share screen time in Brokeback Mountain.
