I've been fairly quiet here for a while, but for happier reasons than ChrisS.
1. My man Tim has moved right in. We've papered and carpetted a room for him that I had full of junk. We're very different (he likes Everquest, Battlestar Galactica and NBA basketball, I like reading, writing and sudoku, but at least I've got him interested in opera - Wagner, even! He's getting me interested in soccer, even, beyond just the beautiful men who play the beautiful game), but we're determined to make it work, on the grounds that we don't want to end up like Ennis.
2. I've just been asked to a job interview, and the chances are quite good. I haven't had one for a few months and it's nearly six months since I was restructured out of the last job.
3. Some of you know already but I'm visiting the US late August - early Sept. I'll arrive in Vancouver on Aug 18 and be in the Bellingham-Lummi Is area till the 22nd, then to Seattle till Sunday the 27th (tied up in a conference Thurs-Sat), then SF till Sept 3. I hope to meet Tremblayans in those places.

Thanks for the wish. The whole of the middle of the North Island is snowed in - the only ways to get from Auckland to Wellington are the long ways around the East or West coasts. Parts of the South Island have been without power for 12 days. The rain is pouring down. But as I told Tim yesterday, the days are starting to draw out again.
