Title: Tacky Memorabilia
Post by: Jeff Wrangler on November 19, 2008, 02:41:15 pm
Hi, folks,

I don't customarily come into this forum, but I needed a place to vent something, so please forgive me if this isn't the appropriate place.

Lately I've started to see images of Heath from The Dark Knight that are striking me as incredibly tacky. I mean, a bobble-head doll of Heath as the Joker? WTF? Is that somebody's idea of something funny? The man's dead, for Chrissakes!  >:(

Thank you. ...  ::)

Vent away.

Sure that stuff is tacky.  I'll bet Heath must have signed over the rights to his Joker likeness for "merchandising".

Reality is, this film will make hundreds of millions, and people will buy the tacky stuff.

We're gonna have to stand it, Jeff.   >:(

I can see what you both are saying.

I think what you need to remember is thats it's not a bobble head of Heath, it's a bobble head of "the joker".   Heath gave us the most memorable and distinctive Joker....I'm not surprised they want to take advantage of it.

Does that make it right?  No.....but expected.

Whichever way you slice it, it's still tacky.

Actually, I'd probably find that bobble head tacky even if he were still alive. ...  8)

Maybe what we have to learn to do in this day and age.?  Is embrace our tackiness, and enjoy it.  Its certainly a lot easier
than tilting against windmills.

and I will order or buy anything else that keeps Heath near to me and comforts me. What may be tacky to you may be an opportunity for someone who is pathologically invested in him to keep him near. If there was an Ennis del Mar bobblehead, it would be sitting on my bookcase next to the Patrick Verona, William Thacker, Jacob Grimm and Casanova bobbleheads (that exist only in my dreams)-and the joker.

I bought a Joker flag :)

I thought it was tacky when I bought it, but that´s partly why I bought it. ;D

i seached high and low for a joker action figure months ago but when I finally found one, it didn't look enough like Heath  ::)

I love Trekfan's Lil Mr.J and the Batman saga using the figures from cereal boxes. I want those so if anybrokie has a cereal box joker and wants to divest him or herself from all things tack, give me a shout out.

I'm sure it was a requirement for getting the part.
