Title: 10 Best Movies of the Decade
Post by: YaadPyar on December 16, 2009, 12:42:55 am
That's right, kiddies - Entertainment Weekly (the entertainment bible) has declared "Brokeback Mountain" the #2 best movie of the decade.  Ah yeah - the only way they could have got it more right is if they made it #1.

And EW said that when "Oscar voters show they can quite Brokeback Mountain, and award Crash Best Picture instead,"they missed the mark big-time.

I love EW.

Heya Celeste!  :-*

Thanks for pointing this out.  It's nice to see that EW has good taste in this regard. 8)

Very gratifying.  Though I was looking at some old BBM pics, and gotta say I prefer Jake back when he was a bit more slender.  He's bulked up so much now he doesn't look like the same guy.  But Jack always looks like Jack...

Well keeping in the same vein as being one of the best, The London Film Critics Circle Awards have chosen Brokeback Mountain #5 in their list of the best movies made in the past 30 years.

And today in the Houston Chronicle, Amy Biancolli has chosen Brokeback as one of her top movies in the past decade.  She said:  "Heath Ledger's performance as a stricken gay sheephearder in Ang Lee's exquisitely sad film was, and remains, a heartbreaker".

Cool!  I'm just now finding this.  Glad to know that my two favorite fandoms are numbers one and two!  Can I pick 'em or what?  ;D

Yes, you can!

I must mention, however, that it took three  films to beat out BBM for #1.

And The Dark Knight comes in as #4 which means Heath starred in two of the 4 top movies of the decade.

and I loved this: Everyone called it ''The Gay Cowboy Movie.'' Until they saw it. In the end, Ang Lee's love story wasn't gay or straight, just human.

Join the club!  ;)

 :)

I'm delighted that Brokeback apparently is getting such positive "best of" placements among reviewers and critics - in viewers' polls and the like conducted by various film mags I read BBM is always way down the list, that I've seen. To my head-shaking chagrin, I might (unnecessarily) add.

I was very pleased to see in ABC's roundup of the decade that Brokeback Mountain featured prominently in their overview of "significant" films of the past ten years. As well, in their list of people we will miss, was the much missed Heath Ledger. True, the clip they showed of him was as the Joker and not as Ennis del Mar - but hey, you can't win 'em all!

what a delight 2 place...  :-* :-* :-* And 2 top movies for Heath, thats awesome. But I can get a around that a little hobbit beat BBM. A little person that only gives us a hugh walk and a bloody ring. When we have BBM that has everything, love, passion, trust, honnesty, culture, society rules, and the list can be a s long as possible.

Why didnt Tolkien think of that?  Sure would have saved a lot of trouble and angst.

Oh well Harry Potter too could have taken a lesson from this too.
