I dared.... 8)

And some of those are just horrible...well, all of them really.  I'm glad most are old; they don't seem as disturbing for some reason, though I'm sure we could find a current assortment that would disturb our modern sensibilities.

The ad with Santa taking the boot off to pull the trigger on the rifle - that one gave me pause.  The writer seems to have the opinion that the artist has had that concept in his head for some time to have the suicide worked out to that minute a detail.   BUT I know that in the murder-mystery-suspense-noir genres that has been used in the plot many times.  I've probably read it 10 times myself.  So I wonder if the artist was a mystery fan and not a psych case.  Or as much of one....

 ;)

Hopefully.

It makes me wonder when that first appeared in fiction though to compare...maybe Monica will know - she's taking a class that might have such info, I think.

I dared, too.

The BVD ad reminded me of nothing coming between Brooke Shields and her Calvins.  8)  ::)

And the prices! When was the last time you could buy an undershirt for 89 cents?  :o

I confess that the suggestion to beat the holiday rush by buying your own tombstone just made me laugh--but then I've already bought my own tombstone--did it the year I turned 50.  ::)

Not to go OT, but what did you say on it?  I'd hate to buy one early, then 20 years later think

"Oh how cheesy of me!"

It just has my name and birth date, with a "Praying Hands" motif in the upper left corner. And, of course, space to add the date of my death.

The stone is already in place in the family plot. When my mom and dad bought the plot, they went ahead and bought the headstone, so it was already in place when my mother died unexpectedly in 1995. They chose a "Praying Hands" motif, so I went with the same idea to complement the headstone. The headstone is a typical, vertical stone, but by the rules of the cemetery, my stone is horizontal, flush with the ground level. Unfortunately, I couldn't get "Hands" for my stone that point in the same direction as the "Hands" on the headstone, but at least the design stays with the same motif.
