Title: "Throwback Thursday"--a compendium of bump-worthy threads
Post by: southendmd on May 08, 2013, 05:48:03 pm
(http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-nqxdffs9RhU/UNtTGrPZrsI/AAAAAAAABwo/pV8FGpvyvx0/s1600/ThrowbackThursday.png)

RouxB had a fantastic idea to drum up some interest around here:  every Thursday, everyone can bump an old favorite thread.  Serious or silly, doesn't matter.  Who knows, maybe it'll kick-start new discussion.

Let's try to keep links to them them archived on this thread, for future reference.  Otherwise, a bumped thread can just drift back into oblivion.

For example:
1) I would like to bump a favorite thread, "Brokeback Slang aka Much Ado About Brokeback".

2) I can use the search function to find it--used advanced search for key words (much ado) and click on "search in topic subjects only".  I find it easily.

3) I go to the thread, reply to the last message and say "bump" or some other message.

4) When I do this, I can highlight the address (up top), right-click to copy, and then paste in this thread, along with the title.

5) And it looks like this:  I'll give the name of the thread:

"Brokeback Slang aka Much Ado About Brokeback"

and the address:

OH, I like that.

So we should post to a thread to bump it up, and then link to it here?

What a great idea - Throwback Thursday. :)
I'll have a look around and bump something later on.

And for me, it's not Thursday today, feels more like Sunday instead. ;D It's a public holiday and the first day of a four day weekend! 8)

Ruthlesslyunsentimental was a consummate Brokieologist who claimed that his viewings of the movie numbered in the four figures, as did his readings of the short story. Astounding as those statistics might be, there's no question that he showed some amazing analytic gifts and insights. Here, he argues the case for what he assumes was Jack's final decision.

Thowback Thursday again. Today I'm bumping this one:

How would Lureen have reacted if she had caught JACK (http://bettermost.net/forum/index.php/topic,6903.0.html)?

Interesting question, but to me the more explosive question is Sue's in the same thread:

1....What do you think Ennis and Jack would have done if they had looked up and saw Alma looking at them thru the door??????????

I bumped Rearview (http://bettermost.net/forum/index.php/topic,3640.0.html), a great old analytical thread.

What I really wanted to bump was a thread about the tar-spreading scene, but I couldn't find one. That was when I first started to "get it" -- to realize how deeply complex this movie is. The conversation may actually have occurred on IMDb; I remember Casey Cornelius got things rolling. If anyone knows where it is here, please bump!  :)

You're on a roll here, Paul!

And it's not even Thursday yet!   ;D

I've been browsing the threads, but it's too time consuming to read them in detail.

It's fun to look back at the discussions back then, but I also feel the time has passed for those meticulous discussions about every tiny little aspect of our movie.

We needed it back then, but - at least I - don't feel that need any more. I think the movie is internalised in our system now.
