Title: 10 years ago today
Post by: Shakesthecoffecan on May 28, 2014, 02:27:40 pm
At approximately 10:30 PM eastern North American time,  while filming the sceen where Ennis flees Alma and Monroe's house, Heath Ledger slams the screen door so hard it had to be replaced.  :o

A bit of trivia I didn't know - thank you!  I'm so glad to see something new about the movie.

Heath definitely got into his parts, his characters.

Yup, a day for celebration indeed.

Just think, where would we all have been without Brokeback?

I can't even start to imagine what my life would have been like hadn't I popped the DVD into the player that day.

Me neither.

And I don't even want to imagine it. This whole Brokeback experience, and especially my Brokie friends, made my life so much richer. I never could have imagined connecting with so many and so different people around the world. And traveling all over the place to meet them! :D

Well how is that!

I bet they never imagined that they would change so many lives, create so many friendships all over the world and that 10 years later there would still be people talking about BBM every day and even celebrating the first day of filming  ::)

Thank you BBM and thank you Brokies!  :-* :-* :-*

Amen! I was just reading an article in Independent.ie that gives the movie credit for changing the tide and leading to same-sex marriage in 19 US states and the UK!

I second that on all accounts!

Nice to see you again, Mouk!   :-*

Has everything cleared up after the floodings?

Where has that time gone, I ask myself, I find it hard to believe that it has been 10 years. Then I start thinking how many times I've watched BBM  ::) ::)

Howdy Sonja Alberta is still working very hard on flood damage. Lots done but lots left to be done in Kananaskis. I went to the Basque bridge today, the bridge is fine as you must have seen last year but the walk above it (Galatea) is still not accessible.

Have you heard that old story about putting a penny in a jar every time you make love during the first year of your marriage, and then taking a penny out every time thereafter? Supposedly, you never empty the jar. For me, it's been like that with watching our beloved movie. I think about it often but I've only watched it once this whole year.

I can't say I've ever heard of that.

Thanks for the report, Mouk!  :-*

I'm glad things are getting better. I hope everything can be restored eventually.

Not sure. Last year Kananaskis authorities said that some trails may never be able to be restored. Not sure which ones but I don't think any of 'our' BBM trails is in this category, thankfully. They also said that the Kananaskis Golf course would remain closed but now there is talk about reopening it

Glad to hear our BBM trails are not among the ones not to be restored!

Mouk, do you know what's happening to the Elbow River site?

Will do Chuck! Let me know which sites you are interested in

Sonja, I went to Elbow Falls in the spring it is still a total shamble. They started cleaning a little bit but have not restored the benches, picnic tables etc. People go there with their own gear. I did not see THE bench, but this does not mean it is no longer there. Will look again next time I go there. The river has really changed its bed and unless there is another event of the same force as the flood, the site is changed forever. I wonder where the rocks the boys sat on have ended up, probably further down the valley somewhere... :(

Thanks for checking on it, Mouk.

Yes, I'm afraid that site is forever gone from the Brokieverse, no matter how much they restore the picnic site.  :(

The best we can hope for is the bench being put back somewhere around there.

True, we brokies will have to keep an eye out for the bench
