I'm willing to bet that Jake gives a great performance in it, and we'll be missing something great.

Although there is a difference between not seeing a movie because you disagee with the lifestyle of the characters, and not seeing a movie because the topic doesn't interest you.

I'm sure Jake's performance is great, but I still can't watch violent and upsetting movies like that one seems to be.

The writer describes Jake as standing "erect as a poplar." I think that's a wonderful image. :)
