Title: What is the best Brokeback Prop?
Post by: Front-Ranger on July 13, 2017, 03:43:02 pm
There are thirty subjects on this forum with the word prop in the title, but none of them are about the memorable Brokeback Mountain props. A prop is something handled by an actor. Other props not handled are called set decoration. We can talk about both here. What was the prop you remember the most? Was it the paper bag, the coffeepot, the rifle, the shirts? (I say the shirts were too important to be relegated to the costumes.)

I thought about this subject while reading about the 100 greatest movie props (https://www.thrillist.com/entertainment/nation/greatest-movie-props). There wasn't a single Brokeback thing on the list!

Hmmmmmm

While I'm tempted to mention  the shirts or anything the characters wore, I think they would fall under costumes rather than props.

If I had to pick a prop.....maybe the flask they passed back and forth to share their liquor.

The paper bag. Ennis had his stuff in a paper bag at the beginning. And he left the Twist ranch with a paper bag at the end  of the movie. It's like a circle is closing.

Or the cigarettes. They smoke all the time!
