It's a dual story about Jack's granddaughter, in "parallel universes". In one universe, Jack has been dead for several years and the granddaughter is about to learn about her grandfather's past. In the other, Ennis and Jack have made a life together up in Lightning Flat.
Extremely well written, and quite a page-turner. The granddaughter's questions to "Grumpy" (her name for Ennis! ;D ) in chapter two are so hilarious, those alone are worth a read.
