Please make yourself to home. Please notice the finely crafted leather chairs, sofas and bar stools.
We have an open bar... 24/7... and all drinks are free. Saunas, steam baths and whirlpool tubs are located down the hall, last room on the left. The arcade and casino is just across the hall!

Don't feel bad, David. We use words in Australia that may not have an agreeable meaning in the US. For example, I recently mentioned that Matthew had visited his "attorney." The word "attorney" is not in common usage in Australia. We call a legal advisor a "solicitor"! So I had to deliberately adjust my English usage so that my US friends would know what I was saying. I'm sure it would have sounded strange to you if I'd said, "Matthew is visiting a solicitor." To an Australian, however, it wouldn't sound at all unusual. Same language, different usage . . . :)

Well, I guess I can say something nice about Lucise..... just this once.
Yes, I thought her graphics were amazing. She is very good. I sure do wish I could do it. I think it takes a lot of talent though, and clearly Milli is extremely talented. I've been tempted to buy a very good graphics program and try to make some BBM related graphics. But Lucise is very good, and personally I was very moved by the slideshow the other night. I don' think the slideshow would have even been possible without Lucise's tremendous talent and Eric's hard work. Both of them should be commended! :)

gee, that is HARSH...the doc percribed it for me! I am supposed to take it! Hydrocone in a syrup. I LOVE it....it is the best thing in the world! better than CocaCola! better than CHOCOLATE!!!
but I don't drink it often. I have had this bottle for more than four months and have only used a little less than half of it. It doesn't work if you take it too much. I can take a half spoon and it works just fine.
but lort it is nice to know it is there if I need it!

Maybe she took off to go drink some vicodin! I never heard of such a thing. I didn't know it came in liquid form. I guess we learn something new every day!
The next time my doctor renews my prescription, I'm gonna ask him about it so I can try it too! :D

Less worrisome side effect, but no less a side effect. Actually it is a very powerful drug. Very addicting. Also has some very serious side effects you might want to concider. Ask your Dr. or look them up on the web. Please concider you use of this paticular medication! It's a hard drug to get off of when your back is feeling better. Allot of the stars have gone to rehab for Vicodin drug addictions!!! bad bad bad

indeed. That is why I only take it now and again. and only 1/2 a teaspoon instead of the full teaspoon prescribed. It is one of those drugs that if you take it regularly, you need more and more to get the same effect.
When I need it, I REALLY need it. so I am very conscientious not to take it often (A - to keep it effective, and b - to keep the doctor willing to prescribe it!!)
(I also know it is bad to joke about it but it drives my sister nuts so I have gotten into the habit! )

This is really good advice from Geri, David. I occasionally throw my lower lumbar back out. It can be quite painful and somewhat debilitating, but I never take medication. Instead of medication, I alternate applications of heat and cold. I find this gets rid of the problem within a couple of days at the most. Apply a good steady heat source to the painful area of your back (I use an infra-red lamp) for approximately 10 min or so, followed by an application of intense cold. I take a pack of frozen peas from the freezer and apply it to the painful area. Wrap the peas in a tea towel, otherwise the shock of the intense cold on the freshly heated area of your back will create too much of a shock to the system. Repeat this process as many times as you can. For some reason, this alternating of heat and cold does the trick every time. I was advised to do this by a doctor. Alternatively, get yourself to you local New Age centre and have a lovely, relaxing back massage. If this isn't possible, purchase a little hand-held massager, available at all electrical appliance stores. Anything is better than those nasty ol' meds.
In her book, "You Can Heal Your Life," Louise Hay defines three areas of back pain, describes the cause, and prescribes an affirmation to be recited in order to rectify the problem:
Upper Back Pain - Caused by lack of emotional support. Feeling unloved. Holding back love. Recite the affirmation, "I love and approve of myself. Life supports and loves me."
Middle Back Pain - Caused by guilt. Stuck in all that "stuff" back there. Get off my back. Recite the affirmation, "I release the past. I am free to move forward with love in my heart."
Lower Back Pain - Fear of money. Lack of financial support. Recite the affirmation, "I trust the process of life. All I need is always taken care of. I am safe."
No nasty side effects. No rashes. No withdrawal. No more back pain!
Louise Hay also prescribes an affirmation for those who may be inclined to be accident prone - "I release the pattern in me that created this. I am at peace. I am worthwhile." She suggests that being accident prone may be caused by an inability to speak up for oneself, or through being rebellious against authority.
I'm a firm believer in the positive power of creative visualisation and affirmations.

Well, it's not like I take them everyday! I'm just now finishing up the bottle my doctor gave me 6 months ago when I hurt my leg up at lake Wawasee. There were 90 vicodins in the bottle. That averages out to only 15 a month, I think. I only take them when I'm really hurting. Melissa's boyfriend suggested some exercises for me to do, and I try those first before I take a pill.
My doctor just gave me a new bottle when I hurt my back, but it will probably take another 6 months before I need to get it renewed again. :)

The big problem with vicoden besides being so addictive is the dangers of interactions with other drugs. Even some cold medicines taken with Vicoden can be dangerous. I'm not too big on pain medicine in general.
It takes allot for me to even pop a Tylenol. But I have not ever suffered with a bad back so who knows what I would be willing to take for that kinda pain.

But back pain is awful. I first hurt my back while working in a nursing home in the late 1980's. I was lifting people in and out of bed incorrectly. I hurt it again when I was personnel manager at Montgomery Ward. I was helping the Electric Avenue Manager move lawn tractors from the front of the store, and I tried to lift the front end of one up on a skid. I have hurt it several times since then. I shouldn't have tried to tilt the refrigerator the other night when Cody got his head stuck. But I panicked.
Back pain is one of the most awful things I have ever experienced. When it really starts hurting bad, I'll do just about anything to get rid of it.

Sounds like you have a history with back problems. It wil probably always something that you will have to be very careful with. And yes i know a couple people that have put their backs out almost the same ways you have and when they act up they're laid up in pain for weeks.
kerry is right though. You could get massages to help relax the muscles. Sometimes that helps alot. And the hot to cold therapy works for alot of people too.

but Geri studies show that being in pain can cause severe emotional and social problems and lead to further illness and injury (usually from the unwillingness of someone in pain to move around much resulting in strained muscles and lack of balance)
and you hit on another aspect. You can't know how badly someone else hurts. I will not chastise another for taking a medication given by their doctor to relieve pain (feeling the doctor knows more about the situation than I do) I just consider myself to be VERY lucky that my health problems are not as debilitating as some others.
One of my favorite lines is: 'there but for the grace of God goes I...'

Well, fortunately my back feels fine most of the time. Normally I have no problems and I can work out with my weight set, run and exercise.
BUT.... when I do aggrevate my back by doing something stupid (like trying to lift a refrigerator) it really hurts me and sometimes it takes awhile before I feel good again.
My Mother was adminantly against pain medicine. Once, just after she was diagnosed with leukemia, she got up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. As she was getting up off the toilet, she lost her balance and fell face first to the floor. She was struck in the ribs by the ledge of the shower stall and broke two of her ribs. She refused to take the pain medicine the doctor prescribed to her. For two solid weeks she was in pain. It hurt her every time she took a breath. But she never took a pain pill fearing she would become addicted to them.
I'm not like that. If I'm hurting bad enough, I'll take a pain pill. I don't have any reservations about it.

I've even had cortisone injections in my back. In fact, I need to call my doctor on Monday and schedule another one. But they only work for about a month. And my doctor doesn't want me to get those injections more than once every 4 months. So, I end up going for three months without the benefit of the shots.
I just had an MRI a couple of weeks ago too. But my doctor hasn't received the results from the hospital yet. He told me to call him on Monday. Something got screwed up. He should have seen the results by now. They can be slower than the seven year itch over at that hospital. I don't like Community Hospital very much, but that's the hospital I go because I work for them. The hospital is just too big. They have 3 hospitals in Indianapolis, plus another one in Anderson. They also have many out patient offices, mental health centers (Gallahue, where I work) cardiac centers and several oncology buildings scattered around town. I will not chastise another for taking a medication given by their doctor to relieve pain (feeling the doctor knows more about the situation than I do) I just consider myself to be VERY lucky that my health problems are not as debilitating as some others.

Jess I just meant pain medications for me in general. I once took Tylenal with Codiene for a tooth infection and I was so messed up I almost burned my apartment down trying to cook. I just can't function when ever I have taken them. And I am just talking about perscription pain meds , not over the counter. Fact is I can't stand to see people in pain. But I just get nervous about pain pills bacause I myself have seen in my own family people abuse them and get hooked . And about 5 years ago I had a very close girlfriend mix alcohal and pain pills together and died in her sleep a week after she got married. I guess it's more of a personal fear of them. And therefor I guess I would rather see someone try other alternatives before pills, but like I said to David I have never suffered with a bad back, but I have seen alot of people in great pain.
Your so right about the emotional and phisical deteriation that occurs when people are in constant pain.

And I can tell you personally from my experience, as Katherine said chronic pain is a GDBOAUS. iT does inhibit you from activities you would love to do.. and i had those shots. and they did nothing for me...But i did twist my doctors arm and got some good medications for the use on my two trips...I cant take codine or morphine base meds. So the only thing i can take on a regular basis is motrin and aspirins..advil or some things you can get readily, otc. But that Tordol works like a charm..It allowed my trip to Boston, and Colorado and Wyoming.. I even climbed that mountain. None of which i would ever have been able to do without it..You can only take it for four days in a row however.. It will eat your liver.

To cut a long story short, I now experience absolutely no pain and never did have that operation. Glucosamine and Omega 3 Fish Oil is available over the counter here in Oz, no doctor's prescription necessary. I'm not sure what's the cause of your pain, Janice. If it's arthritis, perhaps they may help you, as they did me. :D

I couldn't believe that steam coming from her ears. I felt tempted to ask her to go steam clean my curtains while she was steaming. I've never seen someone do that before. I thought only Herman Munster did things like that.

Answer: (highlight to view it) They all have appeared in television shows about the supernatural. Wentworth Miller guest starred in an episode of "Ghost Whisperer" where he played the tormented ghost of a fallen Vietnam war soldier.
I was looking to see if there was a "Ghost Whisperer" thread and instead I found this thread where David talks about good looking guys. I remember this episode of "Ghost Whisperer" where there was a ghost of a fallen war soldier. Was this it or was there another one where it was a fallen soldier from Iraq?
