Here is my Jukebox (with all BBM 45's in there BTW i.e. Melissa, D-I-V-O-R-C-E, etc...) :D
And License Plates too. :D
-
Here are some framed pictures I got at the Reno Rodeo hanging in my hallway. I swear it's Jack and Ennis. Oh, and that's my train signal, too.
-
Here's some artwork I got that I need to frame... Coming Soon! :D
-
I'm working on getting all my fan fiction in order... I swear. :o :D

Shots from the bedroom. :D

In the living room is my prized 30X40 UK Banner Poster. It does not make one mention of Oscar on it! ;) :D
-
And finally, here is the "BBM RADIO lab". Yep, everything you hear and all your CD's were produced here. Hey, don't laugh. I know where everything is! :D
-
Ok, who's gonna share next? :D
-
I do not try to compete. There's a traditional BBM poster hanging over my bed, next to a traditional modern Chinese artist, Li Wayii, next to an up-close photo of Gae Auelti,
the architecdt for the Asian Art Museum.. A photo of the (non-existant!--because Jack is smiling and looking down--he never does!) dozy embrace scene hangs from my nightstand. Very modest stuff.
The following pictures are of the cover of my original New Yorker from october 13, 1997, the two buttons I got in Chicago at the Slash Bash, and the one I got from Shuggy. Shuggy button on next page..Beneath, there's a scan of (I have one, but this isn't mine), the "Thank You" ad in Variety (L.A. edition, first ad), March 9, 2006.

see, this is one of the reasons I love you so freakin' much Eric!

...and you're quite welcome, RouxB. Why do you always tick me off? I just posted your naruda sonnet in the new sonnet thread, which took me like half an hour...Eric DID say "who's next?" I can't help it if my entire house isn't a shrine to Brokeback Mountain. I couldn't afford it! Finally found my other button...

i got a film cell plaque for my birthday on Sunday (see my birthday thread on anything goes for a picture) from my lovely boyfriend - i was wondering how to back light it - any tips?
Wow - eric quite a collection!

Sweet, Eric! :D
-
Wow, Eric....this ain't no little thing here! :) ;)
My reliquary is quite modest by comparison. I've got my five ticket stubs from my movie visits to Ennis and Jack, my copy of the DVD, the new BBM 2007 wall calender, my copies of the story-to-screenplay publication and Close Range: Wyoming Stories, and last, but certainly not least, my beautiful Jack-and-Ennis-forever cowboy-hat memento that Melinda fashioned and so generously gave me. That one's hanging on the wall right over my bed! :D
-
I feel so unworthy now...all I own is the DVD...maybe I'm really straight.

Okay, I'm staying tuned Pete and Eric. BTW, I don't remember seeing that middle scene in the movie. And I'm sure I would have remembered it if I'd seen it. Was it a reenactment? If so, who are the reenactors? Just curious!!

OK - Here's the story with photos . . .
I took this waitin on line to get on a San Francisco cable car to red line it over to Tower Records. Don’t miss the holiday wreath on the front and other seasonal decorations on the cable car - a nice touch! :)
Lookin out the cable car window as I'm gettin closer to Tower Records - The excitement builds! ;D
(http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p36/PTannen/BBM_Tower_Records_12_22_06/IMG_0209.jpg)
But Tower Records has closed for good :( - so why am I goin there? ??? Anyone remember a prior thread that would explain why I'm heading to a closed record store?? Once someone posts with the answer to that question . . . I'll continue the story! ;)

Pete -
You had the NEW owners of the store take down the poster & save it for you???? Or the OLD owners - or someone? OMG, if you did!
-
I remember! http://bettermost.net/forum/index.php?topic=4182.msg106312#msg106312
Yes, Clarissa and LJ, you remember correctly! :) So I'll continue with my saga -
As I posted last time, the billboard is now no longer at Tower Records. :( I usually don't get to this neighborhood, but it was still there last Monday (12-18) and I was amazed that it was still up! ;D
I would really hate to see it thrown away or covered with graffiti after Tower Records closes for good. :'( I figured that I could surely find it a loving Brokie home somewhere. So, I was thinkin that I would like to be a good guy and save it. I asked Tower Records and they told me to call the company that put it up. They said they were selling the 6' by 6' displays for $150 or "best offer." When I asked about the 20' by 8' BBM billboard, they said they would have to check about how much it would go for, as taking it down would require ladders and screw guns. Based upon the huge size of the BBM billboard, I figured that this could get really expensive. :( I was overjoyed when I called back two days later and was told I could have it for $150! :o :D ;D
So I quick found a friend with a truck and we red-lined it over to Tower Records. I took another photo for old time's sake. Since it's been there for almost a year, that ivy was really taking over and there was already some black graffiti circles at the bottom left corner of the right panel. >:( :'(
(http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p36/PTannen/BBM_Tower_Records_12_22_06/IMG_0213.jpg)
My friend Bert points as Doris and George, from the company that created this custom BBM billboard begin to dismantle it
(http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p36/PTannen/BBM_Tower_Records_12_22_06/IMG_0215-1.jpg)

Then off we drove, with the five 4' by 8' panels!!! ;D
-
Yay for Bert, Doris, George, and you Pete. I love this so much. :)
Now where you going to find a 20 foot wall to put it? :)
Or maybe a 12 foot wall for the middle portion, and 2 other spots for the end pieces?

Oo - wee!! I feel like shovin' ya like Jack shoves Ennis after he shoots the elk. You all done good!!!
Thanks for bringing us in on the adventure, Pete and Eric. It's so good to know that all the pieces have a good home.
There really don't seem to be any reins on this one. :)
(Off topic - Pete, is that a giraffe collection? And is your house that beautiful lavender?)
-
(Off topic - Pete, is that a giraffe collection? And is your house that beautiful lavender?)
Glad you noticed! :) Actually it is a turtle and giraffe collection. My partner, David, who is 6' 10”, is the giraffe and I'm the 5' 6" turtle! LOL If you look closely in the garage photo, there's a turtle poster in the background and a giraffe one to the right.
Yes, our house is that beautiful lavender. We recently had it painted and David chose the colors. They are his late mother's favorite colors - and now when we give directions to our place, we can truly say, "You can't miss it!" LOL
-
What a great story! That is so great that you saved that beautiful billboard, and thanks Pete and Eric for all the pictures! Ya done good!! ;D I wish I coulda saved a billboard's life like that!
-
Awsome Eric! Just awsome! :D
-
What great pictures and what an amazing rescue of the billboard!
Thanks for this terrific story and all the pictures. Now I really need to come visit you guys and see all this in person...
Hugs,

That was so so so so utterly fabulous guys! How lucky you are to have that billboard in your home! What a great story, thanks!

Wow, Eric...
Can I say, my cheeks are red? LOL

Need to know, Eric; could you actually sleep with Ennis and Jack in your room? I enjoyed this adventure and those pictures 100 times over because I was just there, saw it all with my own eyes. Thank you for posting and sharing! Pete, knew you were trying to pull this off, Congratulations on keeping "our boys" safe! This the the greatest capper to my visit. Tell You What, this is one goddamn bitch of a SATISFACTORY situation. Yee Haw. I still can't believe it.
-
Those pics of you with Jack and Ennis brought tears to my eyes! Thanks also to the person who took the pictures!! :D
-
All I can say is Ditto...Great photos, great caper, awesome addition to your shrine, Eric!
Pete, thanks for sending me the link.
(I just have one little off-topic question for you, Eric. I noticed your harmonica on a shelf in one of your photos. Looks as though maybe it hadn't touched lips in its life. Bow still on it after three months. Have you been practicing!?)
-
>Now I really need to come visit you guys and see all this in person...
Yes you do, Leslie! . . . and we have a guest room waitin for you in that that beautiful lavender house . . . "You can't miss it!" ;D
>This is one goddamn bitch of a SATISFACTORY situation!!
I like that!!!! :)
> Thanks also to the person who took the pictures!!
As far as I know, I think that is Eric himself (with a self-timer).

At least you could dent it, Eric!! ;D

S'alright. :)

Pete -
I LOVE that you held on to the dream of getting that poster! I so remember when we all saw it & all dreamed of having it & now you (and Eric) do. How great. ;D
Want ya to know, I expect to see them both sometime in the future. Maybe on a (sorta) annual SF get-together (this year Alberta).
You brought a very happy smile to my face. And although I don't have a lavender house, I do have an orange dining room.
-
Melinda’s gonna be mad I’m sleepin’ with Jack’s Pants! ;D :D
Eric, :o Mad? NO!!! Are you kidding? I'm ecstatic! When I read through this whole adventure last night, my heart was racing with excitement, as if it were happening to me. I guess that's how I see it-- this beautiful big tribute to our beloved Brokeback Mountain, rescued by Pete and ending up in your home-- it's as if it's a victory and gift to all of us! And who better than you and Pete to be the caretakers? We all know you'll love and cherish 'the boys' and be trustworthy guardians! And....mad at you for sleepin' with Jack's Pants?? Since I (feel that ;D ) I *AM* JACK'S PANTS, I'm right there with ya! I am SO excited for you both, and so grateful to Pete for all the trouble he went to for this bold rescue. Thanks, Pete! You two might find you're going to have a constant stream of visitors parading through your homes just to see your new acquisitions! (May I? ) Eric, your new 'poster' makes my 4' x 6' BBM bus shelter poster look downright puny! I do have my own BBM shrine in my house, and of course it includes my BBM gifts from Eric and Ellemeno - (Thanks, guys! :D ). The Tower Records BBM poster/billboard will always remind me of our San Francisco tour and all the 'scrawny asses' piled into my car (yes, yours, too, Elle! ;) ) --- what a memorable night that was!
I'm with everybody else and all the questions and comments--- Pillow, sheets, or both? Good one, Pete! Tears in the eyes when looking at these pictures? You bet. I am SO happy for you, Eric-- and once again, Pete is our hero. Love you both. :-*
-
thats just awsome eric ! i love it ! can i come see it and you sometime? ;D

Hint:
"Once burned," he said, leaning against the counter, feeling too big for the room.
"You still go fishin with that Jack Twist?"
This photo shows what I meant by "too big for the room." Eric's ceiling is less than 8' above his floor! But with it leanin like that against the wall, it seems to bring the boys right into the room!! ;D

You know, I noticed that and had an idea - if you tack some wood strips to the ceiling with some tiny little nails that would spackle up easy, you could have the boys' world lean out to you. You could actually sleep kind of under them. :)

Pete and Eric: I second what has already been said. What you've done is great 8). I'm happy that this billboard found it's way to two loving BBM-homes.
Ohiomyown said it best and it bears repeating: this is one goddamn bitch of a SATISFACTORY situation!
-
Pete and Eric, you two are freakin' nuts. ... Guess that's why I love you so much! ;D
Now I gotta go back and steal me some of them photos of that billboard. ... ;D
-
Darn it you two, that AIN'T no little thing...
-
Wow Eric and Pete, what a great story!
You never cease to amaze me the distance you will go for BBM. Those billboards could not have found better homes than where they are now. Cherish and enjoy them! Maybe we will get to see them next time we have some gathering in the area.
-
Hi Eric and Pete...... Thanks for the great pictures of the BBM tower records billboard. I'm glad you saved it and that you have it in your homes for safe keeping. I'd like to know if either or both of you are planning an open house so us SF area people can come and see the board up close and personal. I'd also like to visit the rest of the shrine that you have Eric. Please let me know if SF Brokies are going to have another gathering sometime. You know Boston is already planning another get together. I'd very much like to meet everyone in the SF area.

Tell you what, already got the event web site bookmarked, Clarissa. Gotta do some more thinkin'--I'm a real thinker, don't you know? ;D --put together some notes of my own on costs and options, look into getting to Denver and back, and so forth.
I'll say this much--Coordinators, if you're reading this--I'm very impressed by the wealth of information that's already available. This ain't no little thing. ...

I'm workin on Jeff - so he'll be in Estes Park! ;)

I'll leave it to Eric to supply the details (that I don't know either), but to whet your appetite, he took the train from San Jose (near San Francisco) to Seattle, Vancouver, Toronto, Albany, and Boston!! ;D :o :)
-
I'm jealous of that nice train trip! I'm determined to take the train to or from Alberta next year. 8)
Elle, Pete and Eric, you are my Brokie heroes! The billboard story must be immortalized in the Cult somehow. A solemn YEEHAW upon the heads of the Preservers of the Sacred Relics. ;D

Hi, all! I don't think anyone can top Eric's shrine....can they?! Lucky man! I do have my own 'shrine' area in my bedroom, and I might share pictures of those things later, but for now... I'll share my 'car-shrine' Jack & Ennis hats hanging from my rear-view mirror because my daughter took a picture of them! These are not the tiny hats like I gave to the SF Castro group last summer (and I sent to Wulfie at his request recently!) but these are ones that are a little bigger, and it makes me very happy to have them near me as I drive:

This was taken in front of my house....can you tell I live on a hill? ;D
I sure would love to see other BBM things that are in everyone's 'shrines' at home-- (no, they don't have to be bigger or better than Eric's billboard!)

My new pillowcases. :D (Thank you "Thunder88" :-* )
I'm really sleepin' with the boys now! :D
Nice sheets. Bet they get steamed a lot. ... ;) ;D

eh em.. (clears throat). Newbies:
Have you seen "the shrines"? :D
Reminds me I need to have Bay City John over...
:D
-
ah yes Eric - these guys will looovvveee the shrines!

Way to turn my frown upside down!! ;D

I just looked at the wonderful billboard photos again -- first time since I first learned about Pete and Eric's role in their preservation. Guess it's time to share some photos from the Florida shrine . . .starting with the living room wall:
-
The display cabinet in the living room holds a number of treasures, including Ennis' creel case and fishing net(which has travelled to both Bay City and Estes Park, still never touching water). . .
My collection of scripts is on the lower shelf (right), immediately above is the autographed full-page "Variety" ad (shown below). There is a stack of periodicals and articles on the top shelf. Right behind the net is a 1971 Wyoming license plate (reg. in Big Horn County). Hidden behind the creel is a Wyoming 1970 plate. Please bear in mind that this photo represents the "cabinet" collection that is nearly 7 months outdated.
-
The guest room features the autograph gallery (three more framed 8 x 10s have been acquired since this photo was taken) . . .
And over the bed and in the corner are these lovely framed items:
-
In my bedroom I have hanging next to the bed the 4 x 6 vinyl banner movie poster that was exhibited at both the LA and NYC premieres and autographed by 16. Ang Lee smudged his signature and signed a second time! This banner is currently in NY and will be the backdrop for my 6 shows coming in July and August!
-
Wowie, Rodney, that's a high-class shrine, sure enough! Thanks for those great pics. 8)
-
And recently acquired and shipped to NY (also gonna participate in my shows) are two pieces of the late camping cookware, as shown on my living room sofa . . .
Just since the BBQ, I was able to make arrangements to acquire another collector's impressive array of BBM memorabilia, including the "J. AGUIRRE" and "Trespassers will be shot" signs, an autographed copy (Heath and Jake) of the film trailer, a crew gift belt buckle, the complete cast/crew call lists for the entire production, additional copies of scripts, and two large plastic-lidded storage boxes full of photographs, periodicals, books, CDs, DVDs -- 115 inventoried items. More to come about this treasure trove . . .
Here I am with the fishing gear in the gathering room at the Twin Sisters Lodge (the BBQ Lodge) in Estes Park:

look sad in comparison...
Now when will you two host a brokie competition where the winner will get to do a 2 minute trolley dash round your homes?! I promise to buy lots of raffle tickets!!!
-
Wow!
Rodney I just don't know what to say!
That is fantastic!
Thaks for sharing. ;D
-
Finally had my "autographed" poster (not convinced of the authenticity of the autographs) framed a few weeks ago, but haven't yet figured out "photobucket" or anything like that. Maybe I'll post a pic of it some time soon.
I have some other items too, but I'm much too unorganized to have a shrine.

Thank you my friend! One of my hopes is that at some time in the near future a Brokeback Museum might be created so that all may share these wonderful treasures that have come my way, as well as treasures of others who are willing to participate!

Nova, it just takes time. The first item that I acquired was in Feb 06, and it was a 4 x 6 bus stop shelter poster. The framer had a good time with that one and had to dry-mount it by hand as it was larger than his machine. A special piece of Plexiglas was ordered, and after the framing was completed, I transported the piece home lashed to my Mustang convertible (top down, of course!) . . . Fortunately I didn't have terribly far to drive to get home!
-
Rodney--a Mustang--what a fitting car for you to drive!! ;D

And on the front of my Mustang . . .
Are you ready? . . . .

Very nice license plate!! I love it. <3
Does that Mustang ride smooth, or does it buck? :P
-
Oh, it's a smooth ride most of the time -- but kind of noisy!

Nope, this filly does just fine -- I treat her nice and she treats me nice -- what a partnership!!!
Don't know how she'd do on mountain roads, she may complain some . . . but as long as I have my satellite radio and BBM music, we'll do just fine!

Rodney, this collection is simply outstanding and amazing. I definitely want to create a section here with some sort of virtual museum because these amazing pieces, and your stories of collecting them, deserve to be showcased, along with the wonderful things others have managed to collect and share with us. I'll drop you a PM about this shortly.
-
Here is my little shrine of things that mean a lot to me. It consists of a rock and a pine cone from the top of Brokenback Mountain, and a discarded book from the TenSleep Library by Larry McMurtry. All of them were gifts.

I had bought it on Ebay back in early 2006... Sorry, don't remember the artist.

Well friends,
The end of an experience is coming up. It's bittersweet. At the beginning of August I will be moving. Yes, moving out of "The Brokeback Mountain experience apartment." :D
I moved in here on Dec. 01st, 2005. Can you believe it? And on Dec. 16th, my world as I knew it suddenly became very different... It's as if I purposely moved into this apartment to have this experience, and to go on and decorate the apartment as the Brokie shrine!! :D
Oh don't worry, all of the artifacts, including the Billboard are still in tact and safe. My new place will have items on display also. But it will be a room I'll be renting, so I don't have the space for everything like I do here. I will certainly do my best though. There is a large garage and the billboard will probably be put out there, and assembled for viewing too! :)
I will take pictures when I get everything all set up. But for now, I say goodbye to the original "Brokeback Mountain Shrine". 8)

Aw, that is bittersweet, Eric. I'll never forget your story of you and Pete getting that billboard over to your place. ;D
Good luck in your new digs! 8)

Awwh, ain't a time to be sad friend. The "Shrine" is alive and well. It'll just be in a new location. ;)

Well, yeah, but if you're moving from an apartment to a room and a garage at the beginning of August, sounds like ain't no chance I'll be seeing it when I get to the Bay Area August 7.

I also remember the billboard story. What a coup you landed!
Are you staying near where you live now, or are you completely relocating? Good luck with the move in any case!

Thank you FRiend Lee. :)

I also remember the billboard story. What a coup you landed!
I always want to re-toot my own horn about that. When we were in SF for the first Castro re-showing of BBM, our wonderful San Francisco hosts took us on a three car tour of SF, including that huge billboard in the Tower records parking lot. It was me who wondered what they would be doing with the billboard, and if it could be acquired. I did none of the work beyond that, but I do remember the other people in the car looking at me like I had a big wonderful light bulb over my head when I said that.

I'm working on getting all my fan fiction in order... I swear. :o :D
Wow! Do you by any chance have anything by 271horses? (I'm particularly after "widower for one year")
-
Wow! Do you by any chance have anything by 271horses? (I'm particularly after "widower for one year")
AJ (271horses) never finished Widower...and I really wished he had. I have most of it. I thought I had all of chapter 5, but it looks like I missed the last bit of it. I don't recall if he ended with that chapter, or got through chapter 6.
What I do have complete is Roots. Which, IMO, stands apart from all the other BBM fanfiction I've read. Roots is epic in scope, and tells the story of Rich and Earl. Let me know how, and I'll get it to you.
