Holleran is famed for his Dancer from the Dance, and is considered one of the greats in Queer literature. His take on the film offer some great observations and insights. Very worth reading.

A wonderful review indeed. Mature and insightful, and without pretence - I love that.
I think I'll point friends and family to this, when they get that worried look when I talk about it, or say they don't understand why I'm so affected.

Yeah. I also love that he admits to going in with a bias, being ready to hate the film even before it starts. I think that's true for a lot of gay men. Many of them will not have given the film a chance, while others, like Holleran, will be surprised at how it made a connection in spite of their not being open to it.
