OT: Picture posting question
« on: May 05, 2006, 01:30:29 am »
Hi friends. I just have a question. The only way I can figure out how to post pictures is to save it to my computer, then attach it under 'Additional Options' at the bottom left of this page. Then they appear like the lovely examples I've provided below, where you have to click on it to enlarge it. How do you post so that it is not an attachment?

there is a little Icon you click that says post image (it looks like a little picture, right under the italicize button) then you'll want to put the url for the pic in between the two brackets, you can get the url by right clicking and going to properties, there will be a web address ending in .jpg , just copy that and paste it!

I hope that helps  :)

Well,

You could either keep a copy of the picture in your own free online photo storage area like Photobucket and link here using the 'Insert Image' button above...Here is a BBM pic from my storage area in Photobucket

or...

Directly hotlink any image you like anywhere on the 'net. Although this is considered a bit rude in the world of netiquette.

Here is an example of hotlinking off some Czech pic site

Is that pic showing up for anyone? All I see is a box with a red x.

Next question: Is there a way to copy and paste that address? I typed it out (and checked a few times to make sure I had it right).

Thanks for the help guys!

I tried aswell. I think the problem is cos it's an image from iheartjake, it won't work cos you have to be registered ti access, or something like that.
I've learnt that you cannot make someone love you. All you can do is stalk them and hope they panic and give in!

You're right, Chan.
Court, you'll just have to get yourself a photobucket.com account. All the cool kids are doing it.
And then save the pictures into there and then post them here.
...then you ask me about Mexico and tell me you'll kill me for needing somethin' I don't hardly never get.

OK, I'm really clueless about this stuff myself. It takes me forever to figure it out, and I already spend way more time on here than I should. So what do you do if you want to post a photo that's not on the web, that you've just scanned into your computer? Do you have to post it on photobucket or wherever first?

I think it's best to do it thru photobucket rather than cause Phillip unnecessary bandwidth usage by uploading to the site (look at me trying to seem like I know what I'm talking about).

Forgive me for being stupid, but this means that it's better to do it the way you guys just helped with, NOT the way I did in my OP where it's an attachment and you click to enlarge, right?

Yes, I think that's the best way to do it.

Actually, photobucket gives you the choice...you can just do the image, or do a click to enlarge.

But what I mean is that you don't have to post it as an attachment directly from you computer and then click to enlarge..... :)

Right, I understand, Chris. Just in case the others don't know about photobucket, I was just pointing out you can do it both ways there.

PS...how's the baby? One week tomorrow!
