What Used To Be

I will never forget the joy I gave you
I remember when just not hearing from me
Even a few minutes late
Would make your heart skip a beat
I felt so wanted and so loved
The world seemed like a different place
Everything seemed brighter
Each moment I thought of you
Made me feel warm
The future looked so bright
It only seemed like a matter of time
Until I would spend each night
In the warmth of your arms
Now it doesn’t seem to matter much
If I am around or not
Maybe it was only real
In my mind
Maybe I was just a passing thing

Did I destroy you and I
Or was there ever really anything to destroy
It hurts each day
To not feel loved by you
You gave me such joy
Happiness I will never find again
I keep thinking it will come back
That it is just in my mind
That you do still feel the same
As you did all those years go
But with each day that goes by
The memories of our love
Become as distant as the star
I used to look up at
The one I called your star
The one looking out for me
I used to look up at that star so much
It’s still there
But it is just a star now

A new year is right around the corner and as always a new year will mean many new things as well. Many things will become just distant memories from the past. There have been so many things that happened during this year. Things that I would have never even expected. In some ways it was much like a rollercoaster ride. It seemed to start out rather slow, then became filled with excitement, there were ups and downs, twists and turns, and then like every other rollercoaster ride the last hill came followed by the last drop. Slowly the ride came to a slower pace and then coasted to a stop. It will soon be time to exit this ride and look for the next one. It's time to take stock and figure out which path to follow.

Well -- I love a good roller coaster ride! After NY day I'll start hearing that click...click...click!!!  

I enjoyed reading about your trips to different parts of the country and how each had its own feeling. Would you like to live in one of those places? You have such a beautiful place, but you're sounding pretty adventurous!!

I was in L.A. once for a few days. That was the first time I'd been to CA. From AR to CA -- what a leap!! I absolutely loved it, but I want to live here and visit there. I guess I'm too set in my ways. Besides, I don't know if I could learn to drive in L.A. Now if I could have a chauffeur.......

     All these sad stories.. This will always be the Bettermost day of remorse.  So much lonliness and
sorrow.  It is too bad that life cannot continue to go forward, and unmarred by disappointment and tears.
However we all know that is not how it works.
     We all, no matter how happy we are, and how solid our relationship.  There is still going to be thorns and
hidden vines to trip us up. 
     During the bad times we just have to lean and depend on the friends and family we have.  That is what
they are for. 
     We are here for you.....and we love you Jack.
