Today's travel destination:

Donosita, Basque Country, Spain

The Basque country spans the area of the Pyrenees mountains still called Euskadi in the Basque language in both Spain & France.  Coastal beaches are a summertime draw, but the region is also home to a famous cuisine and to lively and interesting cities like Bilbao, with its Guggenheim Museum, and the great Belle Epoque resort of San Sebastian.

No doubt consisting of soup and beans, with no powdered milk or spuds.

Hiya BetterMost friends.

Hope that everyone is doing well today!   ;D

I'm feeling very positive today!  My work load is getting lighter, my bowling scores are up, my weight is going down!

 ;D

If all continues this way, August will be a great month, and will surely make up for the Hell that June & July had been.

Today's travel destination:

Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, Ely, Minnesota.

More than 1,000 lakes, from 10 to 10,000 acres in size, are scattered across the million protected acres of the Boundary Waters and 1.2 million more acres on the other side fo the Canadian border in Ontario's Quetico Provincial Park.  Free of cars, largely free of motorboats and even of planes in the sky, this pristine region feels blissfully untouched by time.

Hiya BetterMost friends.

*Does happy dance*

It's Friday, and pay day!  ;D

Got a message from the VP of the bowling league, he wants to meet me tonight at about 6:00 for some practice.  How cool is that?  I'll get some extra games in, and get to meet one of the VIPs of the league, which will help when I get to the "meet & greet" party in 11 days.

;D

Today's travel destination:

Hydra, Saronic Gulf Islands, Greece.

From Hydra's barren mountains and lovely harbor, its people have always looked to the sea.  All motor traffic is banned, leaving donkeys and horsedrawn carriages the primary means of transportation, but the island's charm is well known, and its rustic tavernas are frequented by a stylish crowd.

Hiya BetterMost friends.

Here we are, back at Monday!

;D

The weekend went well on this end.  I had my meet up with Mead, the gay/lesbian bowling league's Vice Pres., he's a nice guy and we had a few good games.  He said he'll look out for me, and find me a team where he felt I would best fit in.

Went out to lunch on Saturday, and then spurred on the local economy by spending $250.00 on a new external hard drive for the computer, and then 6 pairs of socks, 2 pairs of shoes, and one pair of sneakers.

And before anyone starts on "shoe jokes", I threw out the old pairs, they were all over a year old, and the soles were complete worn out, with some holes in them.

Today's travel destination:

Church of Santa Croce, Florence, Tuscany, Italy.

Built between 1294 & 1442 but with a 19th-century facade, cavernous Santa Croce is chockablock with 14th-century frescoes adn the tombs of famous Florentines, including Michaelango, Machiavelli, and Galieleo, as well as a memoria to Dante.

Tell him when l come up to him and ask to play the record, l'm gonna say: ''Voulez-vous jouer ce disque?''

I've been there - back in 2002

Florence is a lovely place - I'd definitely go back there.
