This rarely seen directorial effort by actor Bill Gunn is considered a milestone in African-American cinema, and one of the most important movies of the Seventies:

This is probably one of the longest film titles of the 70s.

Young Terry Lambert (John Savage) returns home from serving a prison term for a gang-rape he was forced to participate in. He seeks revenge on his lawyer (Ruth Roman) and the girl who framed him. But his real problem is his overbearing mother (Ann Sothern), whose boarding house he resides in and who keeps bringing him glasses of chocolate milk. One of her boarders, Lori (Cindy Williams), becomes attracted to him. However, while he was serving his prison sentence, Terry developed an interest in rough, violent sex, and gory death. Now, one by one, some of the town's women pop up dead. Directed by Curtis Harrington

Somewhat based on Desmond Morris's fascinating book of pop anthropology, this partially animated satirical docudrama produced by Playboy Magazine publisher Hugh Hefner, traces the evolution of human kind and offers insight into the reasons why we behave the way we do. Though often dealing with sexuality, nothing in the film is terribly offensive or graphic. A prime example of mainstream experimental film-making from the early 70s featuring a very young Victoria Prinicpal ~ from cinema sirens

John Houseman won the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award. My uncle, who went to Harvard Law, said this movie brought back all sorts of memories, not all of them good!
