I'd like to teach the world to sing in perfect harmony.  I really liked that song and remember the original Coke commerical.
============================================================================
The song began life as a collaboration by UK hit songwriters Roger Cook and Roger Greenaway. The melody was based on a Cook/Greenway jingle originally called "Mom, True Love and Apple Pie",[1]; a version of this called "True Love and Apple Pie" was recorded by Susan Shirley and released in 1971.[citation needed] It was then rewritten by Cook, Greenaway, Coca-Cola account executive Bill Backer, and Billy Davis and recorded as a Coca-Cola radio commercial, with the lyric "I'd like to buy the world a Coke and keep it company."

It was first aired as an American radio commercial on February 12, 1971, sparking public demand for its release as a single.[1] Reworked by Bill Backer and Billy Davis to remove the brand name references, the single climbed to UK #1 and US #7 in 1971 and 1972.

The Coca-Cola Company waived royalties to the song and instead donated $80,000 in payments to UNICEF. The song has since been recorded over 75 times.

There are some very old carols I especially like: the Coventry Carol and Holly and the Ivy.

Contemporary faves: Song For a Winter's Night (doesn't mention Christmas but gets a lot of airplay on Christmas stations), "There's Something About Christmastime" (Bryan Adams) and "The Prayer."

And I must admit there are some goofy holiday songs that always make me laugh. "The SInging Dogs" has been around for awhile and there's one that surfaces occasionally called "You Ain't Gettin' Diddly-Squat 'Cause You Really Messed Up This Year."

This is another song with no specific mention of Christmas but often gets played this time of year. Both this year and last year, I keep thinking about Ennis and Jack when I hear it.

Here's the lyrics, which are repeated in the song in Spanish:

I pray you'll be our eyes, and watch us where we go.
And help us to be wise in times when we don't know
Let this be our prayer, when we lose our way
Lead us to the place, guide us with your grace
To a place where we'll be safe

I pray we'll find your light
and hold it in our hearts.
When stars go out each night,

The light you have
I pray we'll find your light
will be in the heart
and hold it in our hearts.
to remember us that
When stars go out each night,
you are eternal star
Let this be our prayer
when shadows fill our day

How much faith there's
Let this be our prayer
in my prayer
when shadows fill our day
Lead us to a place, guide us with your grace
Give us faith so we'll be safe

We dream a world without violence
a world of justice and faith.
Everyone gives the hand to his neighbours
Symbol of peace, of fraternity

We ask that life be kind
and watch us from above
We hope each soul will find
another soul to love

The force his gives us
We ask that life be kind
is wish that
and watch us from above
everyone finds love
We hope each soul will find
around and inside
another soul to love
Let this be our prayer
Let this be our prayer, just like every child

Need to find a place, guide us with your grace
Give us faith so we'll be safe
Need to find a place, guide us with your grace
Give us faith so we'll be safe

Anybody else remember the Chipmunks' Christmas song?   ;D

I see by posters in the bus shelters that they have made a movie of Alvin and the Chipmunks, with that foxy Jason Lee (of My Name Is Earl) as their human manager.  ;D
